Job Description
General Summary of Position:
The Nuclear Physics group at the University of Massachusetts Lowell has an immediate Postdoctoral opening to help exploit new opportunities in experimental research both at major national user facilities and at our oncampus Radiation Laboratory. The current research in the group is focused on fundamental nuclear structure and nuclear astrophysics as well as in detector R&D and applied nuclear science using emerging scintillators and segmented HPGe detectors. The Radiation Laboratory has a 1MW research reactor and a 5.5MV CN Van de Graaff accelerator. The university is situated in the historic city of Lowell on the Merrimack River a halfhour northwest of Boston.
We are looking for recent PhD graduates who want to take on challenging roles in our existing programs but who will also be encouraged to pursue their own research interests.
Minimum Qualifications (Required):
- A Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics or a closely related field is required
- Experience with stateofthe art nuclear detectors and techniques as well as multiparameter digital data acquisition and analysis of acceleratorbased experiments is desirable.
- The successful candidate will be an integral member of the group and will be expected to help mentor graduate and undergraduate students.

This position is contingent upon funding. The initial appointment will be for two years with a possibility of renewal based on productivity performance and the availability of funding.
