Job Description
The research engineer is responsible for improving existing research technologies developing and evaluating new research ideas providing technical support as well as assisting in the R&D efforts for hydrate and cold flow projects for the Office of Research. Position duties include planning experiments supervising the analytical lab determining specific analytical test requirements for various experiments as well as developing/ incorporating new analytical methods related to inhouse flow assurance studies. Additional responsibilities include performing process simulations kinetic and deposition modelling and flowsheet development for the new projects as well as assisting the principal investigator with other technical issues related to other projects. The research engineer will also assist the principal investigator in providing quality control for project generated data such as engineering and scientific support for bench top test runs flow loop experiments determining key process variables defining risk involved and providing solutions. Writing research proposals is also an important part of this role. Specific Responsibilities: Creating new research ideas and writing research proposals; designing new tests and loop modifications for specific tests on the hydrates flow loop. Developing deposition modeling tools for flow assurance technology Providing work direction/mentoring to graduate students and technicians and managing multiple research projects. Developing and executing laboratory and flow loop experiments; analyzing experimental results writing detailed test protocols and generating checklists for hydrates flow loop tests; communicating experimental results through reports and presentations Process simulation/flow assurance modeling; assessing test feasibility through PVT analysis heat and mass transfer analysis Developing and maintaining data processing tools (templates with macros) and data accessibility tools (test database) for multiple bench scale units and flow loops Providing quality control for all experimental and analytical data generated from the projects Ensuring health and safety enforcement
