Job Description

Position Goal:

To support the Napa County Office of Educations(NCOE) AmeriCorps National Service Team in the development of tools to support the recruitment and retention of AmeriCorps members. Recruitment Leaders are a vital part of the National Service recruitment team efforts at NCOE.

NCOE has been operating AmeriCorps Programs for nearly 25 years in Sonoma Napa and throughout California. AmeriCorps is the only federal agency for community service and volunteerism. AmeriCorps is a National Service opportunity that invites individuals to serve alongside each other for the betterment of every community.

NCOE manages three AmeriCorps programs:
  • AmeriCorps VIP (Volunteer Infrastructure Project) where members strive to strengthen & build volunteer programs by engaging the community in volunteering.
  • AmeriCorps EXL (Expanded Learning) which provides hands on tutoring and mentoring to disadvantaged students in Napa and Santa Rosa schools.
  • AmeriCorps Neighborto Neighborconnects individuals with opportunities to serve at nonprofits and government agencies in the Greater Bay Area building community resilience and addressing critical issues like social isolation by engaging Neighborhood Leaders and fostering stronger connections.

Program Overview

In an effort tostrengthen the recruitment and retention ofAmeriCorps members the AmeriCorps RecruitmentFellow will be dedicated to expanding and building the programs capacity andtheir partnering organizations to effectively recruit and retain members.

The AmeriCorps Recruitment Lead Fellow will work with the NCOE National Service teamto expand community outreach build social media presence through activeposting and coordination with partner agencies and promote thetransformational impact of the program on populations with whom they serve. Partneragencies will become more efficient and effective through increased communityawareness resulting in an increase in volunteer and national serviceparticipant interest retention and new partnerships with institutions ofhigher learning and local business/foundations.

Identifying andimplementing effective recruitment strategies to increase the capacity of AmeriCorps programs is a significant component of the AmeriCorpsRecruitment Fellow role as are the creation and of retentionstrategies planning for and hosting recruitment and alumni events and developing ways tobuild and appreciate partnerships.


Areas of Responsibility and Essential AmeriCorps Duties

The AmeriCorps Recruitment Fellow will provide capacity building supportto both of NCOEs AmeriCorps programs as defined by the achievement of thefollowing outcomes:
  • An increase in capacity built
  • An increase in AmeriCorps member applicationsreceived
  • An increase in number of AmeriCorps memberslots filled

MemberActivities: All member activities will aim to collectivelyraise the awareness of national service opportunities statewide as well asstrengthen the ability of the host program to adequately serve theirbeneficiaries by leveraging all slots awarded. Overall the AmeriCorps RecruitmentFellow will be charged with creating and refining systems to recruit and retainquality AmeriCorps members.


The AmeriCorps Recruitment Fellowactivities may include but are not limited to the following:
  • Be wellversed on the purpose of the programs and recruitment timelines
  • Gather and maintain updated information on the applicationprocess and timelines for the program
  • In partnership with program staff conduct aCapacity Needs Assessment and develop a programspecific action plan todiagnose and treat the recruitment capacity building needs of the program
  • Support program staffin identifying developing and fostering partnerships to increase outreach topotential AmeriCorps Members
  • Participate in anyCalifornia Volunteers recruitment initiatives on behalf of the program
  • Expand community outreach through presentations atcolleges and career fairs
  • Build social media presence through active postingand coordination with partner agencies
  • Ensure the programs website is up to date forrecruitment purposes
  • Ensure the programs service opportunities areposted on Volunteer Match/CVs Californians For All platform
  • Ensure the programs information on CVs website isup to date and of a high quality
  • Develop other marketing materials for recruitment purposes
  • Track and maintain data regarding progress towardsachieving project outcomes
  • Implement strategies to keep AmeriCorps Alumniengaged in promoting national service
  • Conduct weekly checkin meetings with program staffto set goals and touch base on progress toward target outcomes
  • Provide follow up information or support topotential candidates or applicants in the pipeline
  • Assist program staff with event planning and event support


Requirements

Service Commitment

  • Full time 11month commitment serving a minimum of 1700 hours may include occasional evenings and weekends
  • Service Term: January November 2025
  • Hours are generally Monday Friday from 8:30 5:00PM 4045 hours per week on average
  • Service hours are expected to occur inperson
  • All service hours performed must be only approved program related service activities and not prohibited or unallowable AmeriCorps activities as listed in member contract & handbook
  • Training hours will not exceed 15 of members total service hours

Qualifications and Characteristics
  • Must be at least 18 years of age 17 with parental approval)
  • Clear criminal background check (DOJ and FBI; National Sex Offender Public Database).
  • Provide proof of TB Test/clearance
  • Must have at least a high school diploma or a GED by start date
  • Must either be a citizen national or lawful permanent resident of the United States (Due to federal grant restrictions we currently can not accept DACA recipients)
  • Must not have more than 3 terms of service previously with AmeriCorps State and National programs
  • Organized responsible flexible motivated and professional
  • Strong personal standards of excellence ethics and integrity
  • Ability to be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the programs safety policies and rules
