THE POSITION

At Helcim we believe that great software is built by amazing people. Were seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Developer who thrives on solving complex challenges with simple solutions. Youll be a technical leader who not only writes great code but also shares knowledge mentors others and sets a high standard for excellence.

In this role youll tackle high impact problems that span multiple domains drive innovation and set technical and architectural direction. Your deep expertise in fullstack development will improve performance and ensure our systems are scalable to support Helcims infrastructure and products. Whether its leading a critical project reviewing code with a keen eye for quality or helping a team member think through a tough problem youll play a key role in making Helcims technology worldclass.


A DAY IN THE LIFE:

  • System Design and Architecture:
    • Lead the design and evolution of Helcims architecture ensuring scalability reliability consistency and maintainability.
    • Define best practices for system design data modeling and API development ensuring a solid technical foundation for current and future development.
    • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions ensuring alignment across multiple teams and guiding teams toward simple effective solutions.

  • Problem Solving and Innovation:
    • Solve complex technical challenges and develop innovative solutions to meet business needs.
    • Drive initiatives to modernize systems ensuring alignment with best practices in software development and cloud architecture.
    • Lead technical and proofofconcept projects to validate potential solutions before fullscale implementation.

  • CrossFunctional Collaboration:
    • Act as a technical liaison between engineering teams product management operations and other stakeholders.
    • Act as the escalation point for complex technical issues.
    • Work closely with our Security team to integrate security best practices into system design and development.

  • Code Contributions and Review:
    • Write highquality productionready code for critical components and features.
    • Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain high standards for code quality and readability.
    • Establish guidelines and tooling to improve development workflows such as CI/CD pipelines automated testing and static analysis.

  • Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing:
    • Mentor junior and midlevel engineers across multiple teams helping them grow their technical expertise.
    • Foster a culture of learning through sharing knowledge documentation efforts tech presentations and internal developer meetups.
    • Actively participate in hiring and interviewing ensuring technical excellence and cultural alignment in new team members.

  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Communicate technical tradeoffs decisions and updates to leadership chain and nontechnical stakeholders.
    • Facilitate collaboration between engineering teams by driving alignment on shared dependencies integrations and system interactions.
    • Champion transparency in technical roadmaps making sure priorities and rationale are well understood across the organization.

  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Champion initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve system maintainability.
    • Encourage experimentation learning and iteration ensuring the team stays adaptable and resilient in a fastpaced environment.
    • Set the bar for engineering excellence by prioritizing performance security and user experience in every project.

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE;

  • 7 years of professional software development experience.
  • Excited by the opportunity to join a growing & scaling company and the unique challenges that it poses.
  • Track record of implementing significant improvements in quality performance stability and scalability of systems.
  • A passion for mentoring developers and teaching colleagues.
  • Strong technical background in developing webbased products services and platforms.
  • Experience leading larger technical initiatives that involve multiple developers or teams.

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • PHP experience with Laravel Livewire SaAS
  • Building and deploying cloudbased SaaS applications at scale

Training: Helcim will cover 50 of the applicable training costs of up to $500 per year.
