Job Description
Overview:
Quinnipiac Universitys School of Health Sciences (SHS) invites applications for a FullTime Assistant Clinical Professor & Academic Fieldwork Coordinator in Occupational Therapy. The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) works closely with the Director of Clinical Education in the Department of Occupational Therapy (OT) to ensure program compliance with fieldwork requirements as stated in the 2023 ACOTE Standards C.1.0. The AFWC collaborates with the Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) Program Directors faculty and fieldwork sites/fieldwork educators to ensure integration of didactic and fieldwork education. The AFWC will have teaching and advising duties service and responsibilities relative to the implementation of strategic initiatives of the OT Department. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with exceptional organizational written and oral communication skills. The Department of Occupational Therapy is part of the School of Health Sciences. The School of Health Sciences is home to approximately 86 fulltime faculty and professional staff and enrolls over 2120 students across over 20 graduate and undergraduate academic offerings. The school is organized into 7 departments offering undergraduate majors in biomedical sciences health sciences radiologic sciences medical microbiology & immunology and diagnostic medical sonography and graduate majors in physician assistant studies occupational therapy physical therapy social work biomedical sciences pathologists assistant and cardiovascular perfusion. Responsibilities:
- Support SHS and Universitys vision mission core values and work to implement our strategic plans.
- Contribute to the diversity equity and inclusive excellence of academic community
- Teaching occupational therapyrelated courses assigned by department chair and/or program directors
- Ensure timely fieldwork placement of students in Level I and Level II fieldwork sites.
- Manage fieldwork data within fieldwork data management systems (e.g. EXXAT Formstack)
- Establish and maintain fieldwork agreements within designated regions in accordance with all university policies and Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) requirements.
- Monitor compliance with site requirements maintenance of site data.
- Collaborate with fieldwork educators
- Communicate with the student and fieldwork educator and monitor student progress and performance during Fieldwork Level II
- Contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness of supervision and provide resources for enhancing supervision of fieldwork students
- Contribute to program assessment/evaluation related to the fieldwork components of the curriculum and identify areas for further program development
- Contribute to the implementation of strategic initiatives of the department
- Advise and mentor students prior to and during fieldwork to enhance their performance and experience
- Support fieldwork educators in their supervisory role to enhance students fieldwork performance and experience
- Follow established protocols for providing timely feedback academic advising and assessment of student learning
- Provide service to the Department SHS QU and the community.
- Perform any other related duties assigned by department chair and the dean at SHS.
Education Requirements:
- Earned postprofessional doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by ACOTE.
Qualifications:
The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator must have
- Occupational therapy licensure (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Connecticut
- Active National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) registration as an Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR)
- Minimum of 3 years of documented clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
- Experience in occupational therapy clinical practice working interprofessionally and supervising occupational therapy students
- Evidence in strong attention to detail excellent verbal and written communication and time management skills
- Proficient computer skills including the use of database systems
- Preferred qualifications include:
- Documented specialized experience in physical rehabilitation of adult or older adults
- Teaching experience at the postbaccalaureate or graduate levels in occupational therapy education.
- Knowledge of ACOTE accreditation standards
- Volunteer leadership service relevant to the field of occupational therapy
