The emergence of artificial intelligence data analytics and predictive models is where Hatch is determined to explore innovative ways to address such issues.

Hatch Risk Analytics and Resilience services are defined within the global Risk Management Practice to incorporate such computational techniques and practical understanding of risk response within Hatchs risk management capabilities. Therefore we are searching forIntermediate Risk Analytics and Resilience Engineer with knowledge of data science and probabilistic methods proficiency in computer programming and a good understanding of engineering projects systems and operations resiliency. Specific expertise and interest in risk specialties are encouraged.

Looking to take the next step in your career Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Risk Analytics Engineer to join our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Australia.

Hatch Risk Analytics and Resilience services are defined within the global Risk Management Practice to incorporate such computational techniques and practical understanding of risk response within Hatchs risk management capabilities. Therefore we are searching forIntermediate Risk Analytics and Resilience Engineer with knowledge of data science and probabilistic methods proficiency in computer programming and a good understanding of engineering projects systems and operations resiliency. Specific expertise and interest in risk specialties are encouraged.

Reporting to the Global Director Risk Management the incumbent in this role will support Risk Analytics and Resilience services in creating probabilistic analytical tools and studies primarily focusing on application across all of Hatchs business sectors namely mining and metals energy and renewables (such as Nuclear) and infrastructures. This include a wide array of applications in projects and operations. This role involves active participation in and management of risk consulting studies as well as risk product developments in collaboration with several internal Hatch teams.

As the successful candidate you will:

• Lead Hatchs Risk Analytics and Resilience services within the region in establishing primary capabilities including but not limited to:
  • Probabilistic Resilience Modeling
  • Probabilistic Risk Assessment
  • Risk Analytics Systems
  • Virtual Risk Memory
• Development of Probabilistic and Bayesian modeling of risk systems including Boolean logic such as fault trees and event trees
• Conduct and participate in operational risk modeling assessment and systems
• Conduct and participate in reliability engineering studies
• Conduct and participate in safety risk analysis and incident forecasting
• Conduct and participate in rare events probabilistic risk and impacts studies (e.g. failure flood fire)
• Conduct and participate in decision and value of information analysis
• Modelling and reflecting on heavytailed risk events (aka. black swans)

You will bring to the role;

• 46 years of experience in risk modeling risk analytics or adjacent fields.
• Graduated with a Bachelors of engineering degree from a recognized university.
• Proficient in Python and/or R programming languages and proven knowledge of data analysis.
• Proficient in in machine learning statistical learning and probabilistic inference libraries.
• Proven track record of leading multiple projects and activities in a timely organized manner and coordinating with various types of stake holders.
• Proven track record of mentorship and inspiring young professionals and other members of the team.
• Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
• Professional engineering designation within any of Canadian provinces or actively working towards professional engineering registration.

Additional assets

• Postsecondary degrees including masters and doctorates.
• Proven industry experience in the following subject matters:
  • Bayesian statistics and mathematical formulation of probabilities.
  • Natural Catastrophe Modeling and sophisticated Monte Carlo methods
  • Developing Natural Language Processing (NLP) applications.
  • Developing and applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML models in industrial (preferred) and business settings.
  • Relational and graph database systems and data structures.
  • User interface and dashboard development in Power BI R or Python.
  • Simulation methodologies of discrete events and dynamic simulation.
  • Qualitative and semiquantitative risk studies such as FMEAs LOPA PHAs and project risk workshops.
  • Resilience business continuity incident response and disaster recovery concepts.
