Job Description
The Zeng Lab in the Department of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse University seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team. The Postdoctoral Researcher will work on various areas including nanomedicine and therapeutics development investigate molecular and cellular mechanisms contributing to neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration and conduct biomarker discovery research with a goal of advancing translational neuroscience.
Responsibilities
Designing and engineering biomaterials and drug delivery platforms for neuroprotection including conducting chemical materials and biological characterizations. Establishing and managing mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases maintaining mouse breeding colonies performing stereotaxic injections and conducting behavioral characterizations. Developing methods to isolate extracellular vesicles for biomarker discovery identifying potential indicators of disease progression or therapeutic response. Utilizing cellbased assays and biochemical techniques to evaluate the efficacy of nanomedicinebased therapeutics and other pharmacological agents. Collecting and analyzing data drafting manuscript and publishing findings presenting at conferences contributing to new grant applications mentoring undergraduate/graduate students and supporting other team members in their research efforts.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering Biology Neuroscience Pharmaceutical Engineering or a related field is required by the time of appointment. Demonstrated potential for excellence in research evidenced by a solid publication record or significant research accomplishments.
