POSITION: Teacher
REPORTS TO:School Principal
SALARY GRADE: State Salary Schedule plus local supplement
NATURE OF WORK: An employee in this class provides direct instruction to students. In some cases E.C. teachers may work oneonone with special needs students in which cases such assistants may be required to possess additional skills and training in providing for the specific physical needs of such students. A wide variety of tasks are performed in the teachinglearning process for students the primary one being to help students learn the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature able and responsible adults. A teacher performs his/her duties under the supervision of and reports to the principal.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Language SkillsAbility to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers clients customers and the general public.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
Computer SkillsFamiliarity with basic computer operation and software. Ability to learn various computer operations required for management of student information and integration of technology in classroom instruction.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee may encounter and include a noise level that is usually moderate to loud. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk and use fingers tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific visual abilities required by this job include close vision color vision and depth perception. Occasionally the employee will lift up to 50 lbs. such as to lift files and paper. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
