The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology in the Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate or Full Professor position in the nontenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Candidates must be board certified in Gastroenterology.
Teaching responsibilities may include teaching Penn medical students residents and fellows. The academic clinician track requires 100 credits per year of active and highquality teaching.
Clinical responsibilities may include care of patients in the outpatient and inpatient settings at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) Pennsylvania Hospital (PAH) and/or Penn Medicine at Radnor (PMR) that specializes in inflammatory bowel disease neurogastroenterology esophagology hepatology advanced endoscopy and/or general gastroenterology. The clinical responsibilities will include seeing patients in clinic as well as performing endoscopy. Responsibilities also include care of patients in clinic as well as performing endoscopy procedures.
As Vice Chief of Clinical Affairs in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology the selected candidate will oversee the clinical programs in gastroenterology hepatology and endoscopy across the 3 hospitals each with ambulatory clinics an ambulatory endoscopy unit and a large outpatient center also with clinic space and endoscopy unit. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build on an enormously strong foundation of excellence which currently performs over 44000 outpatient clinic visits and over 34000 endoscopic procedures and develop innovative ways for the clinical practice in the Division.
There will be an expectation of the ability of the selected candidate to provide management and/or leadership. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
