About the role

Sexual Services Victoria (SASVic) is the peak body for specialist sexual and harmful sexual behaviour (SA & HSB) services in Victoria. We work to promote rights recovery and respect for all those impacted by sexual violence and harm. We are looking for an experienced and confident Project Lead to support the design and implementation of the new Justice Navigators pilot.

Following advocacy from SASVic the Victorian Government announced funding for the Justice Navigator pilot in 2024. Justice Navigators will be embedded in SASVic member services and will provide advocacy and support to help survivors of sexual violence to understand and exercise their legal rights and navigate the various support compensation recovery and justice options available to them. Our longterm goal is that Justice Navigators become a permanent feature of the specialist sexual sector in Victoria.

This role is a unique and exciting opportunity to help lead coordinate and deliver a successful pilot and will involve a strong focus on codesign stakeholder engagement workforce development and evaluation.

Tenure & FTE: March 2025 June 2027. This is a fulltime or 4 days per week role.

Salary: $depending on experience. Salary packaging options and superannuation.

SASVic supports a hybrid work from home and office model and flexible work arrangements. All staff are required to work in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For all other days staff have the choice of either working from home or attending the office.

Core responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager of Policy Advocacy & Research and working closely with our counterparts at Family Safety Victoria Core responsibilities of the Justice Navigators Project Lead will include:

Project management

Meeting and reporting against agreed project & funding requirements.

Proactive planning risk identification and mitigation.

Preparation and presentation of comprehensive reports briefs on complex issues and technical advice for a range of audiences as required.

Accurate and thorough record keeping.

Assisting with the design implementation and analysis of evaluation materials.

Stakeholder engagement and service design

Provide advice on and where appropriate advocating for key aspects of the design of the new Justice Navigators roles.

Leading SASVic engagement with other community organisations as well as lawyers prosecutors and police fostering stakeholder buyin and support.

Working closely with SASVic members on service design and implementation including supporting the establishment of the first Justice Navigators supporting their onboarding and ongoing professional development.

Representing and promoting SASVic and the pilot at a range of external forum and groups.

Workforce development

Developing models templates and resources and delivering relevant workforce capacitybuilding activities such as training and a community of practice.

Promoting the new Justice Navigator roles to adjacent workforces and building strong crosssector referral pathways.

Other

Providing advice and support across SASVic including contributing to events campaigns community engagement and other advocacy activities.

Playing a senior role in the organisation and participating in organisational development activities required to support the growth of SASVic.

Required knowledge and skills

A relevant tertiary qualification for example public policy social sciences humanities public health social work.

Experience coordinating and delivering endtoend management of significant multistakeholder service design and/or pilot projects including managing multiple and sometimes competing priorities and seeking support when necessary.

5years experience in the specialist sexual family violence and/or legal sectors in Victoria.

Feminist understanding of the dynamics causes and impacts of sexual violence.

Familiarity with the legal rights of survivors and the various support compensation recovery and justice options available to them. Lived experience of navigating these processes will be wellregarded.

Highly developed interpersonal written and verbal communication skills including advocacy and negotiation skills the ability to adapt messaging to audience needs and the ability to lead and facilitate groups.

Strong problemsolving skills with the ability seek all relevant information identify and consult with stakeholders analyse issues from different perspectives and identify and propose workable solutions.

Experience designing and conducting evaluation theories of change outcomes frameworks will be well regarded.

Creativity and innovation including the drawing in of new ways of doing things.

A deep commitment to improving legal outcomes for survivors of sexual violence and to the success and further rollout of the Justice Navigator pilot.

Additionally you:

must be legally entitled to work in Australia.

must have a current Australian police check (and international where applicable) and Victorian Working with Children Check.
