Description

ProMedica Toledo Hospitalis one of the largest acutecare facilities in the region. Our 794bed hospital is staffed by more than 4800 professional healthcare employees who serve a 27county area throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. Position Summary:

Performs all aspects of processing functions to support the needs of the unit.

Accountabilities:

  1. Decontaminates inspects and maintains reusable instruments to prepare items for Custom Ultrasonic washing and/or sterilization.
  2. Participates in cost containment initiatives and safety by monitoring instruments as well as identifying instruments in need of repair.
  3. Prepares designated reusable supplies instruments etc. in the proper quantity and layout to meet the requirements of physician and medical/surgical needs with minimal errors.
  4. Wraps designated supplies according to technical specifications to ensure sterility during handling and/or through its shelf life.
  5. Assures processed items meet technical standards and decontamination through the use of control procedures in the cleaning process. Performs biological and chemical monitoring in accordance with quality assurance standards.
  6. Operates the Custom Ultrasonics machine following the manufactures operational instructions.
  7. Responds to patient care request for delivery of processed supplies and instruments.
  8. Cleans and tests patient care equipment between each patient use. Complete BioMedical service request forms for any malfunctioning equipment.
  9. Assists in other quality assurance monitoring and daily audits and completes on daily work sheets.
  10. Processes linen; such as sorting folding counting stacking packing according to departmental policy.
  11. Labels instruments clearly and correctly following departmental policy and procedures.
  12. Performs other duties as directed.


Requirements

Education: High School Diploma

Skills: Requires on the job training to learn technical procedures and to become familiar with a broad range of medical surgical items. Must be able to understand directions and be able to communicate and respond to inquiries. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Must be able to input and retrieve information from computer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Physical Demands:

Must be able to move about center and between workstations.

Must be able to tolerate exposure to dust cleaning chemicals heat and fumes

Must be able to move lift and/or carry materials and equipment weighing up to 10 lbs. 15 of the time; 20 lbs. 10 of the time; 30 lbs. 2 of the time; and move materials weighing up to 100 lbs. 1 of the time.
