The City and County of Denver is seeking an Executive Director for the Office of Childrens Affairs. This role will lead and implement the Denver Mayors vision and strategy for the Office of Childrens Affairs.
The Executive Director for the Office of Children Affairs is a member of the City and County of Denvers executive body. The role is responsible for setting and operationalizing City and County of Denvers broader vision strategy and goals within the Mayors Office.
The Office of Childrens Affairs connects communities government agencies and other stakeholders to support the safety wellbeing and development of young people and their families; advocates on behalf of children their families and service providers to remove barriers and increase their opportunities; supports programs that are innovative equitable and effective through funding and technical assistance; and leads across the child and youthserving field by engaging youth voice assessing community needs and innovating the ways in which we work.

A successful Executive Director of Childrens Affairs candidate will be someone who can generate innovative and nuanced solutions to complex challenges provide strategic vision anticipate challenges and assess the effectiveness of our work.
Please note all City and County of Denver Appointee positions will be inperson roles. We believe we can listen better learn more and act faster when we are able to build strong relationships in the same physical space. With this in mind we do our work together in person. The salary range for this position is $107319.00 $182442.00/year.

Additionally as the Executive Director of the Office of Children Affairs you will be responsible for:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives aimed at improving the overall wellbeing and welfare of children in the city. This may involve collaborating with other government agencies community organizations and stakeholders to identify key areas of focus and establish goals and objectives.
- Evaluation Reporting and Program Management: Establish evaluation frameworks to assess the effectiveness and impact of childrens programs and services. Regularly collect and analyze data prepare reports and present findings to key stakeholders including the Mayors Office City Council and community organizations. Oversee the implementation and management of various programs and services for children in the city. This could involve initiatives related to education healthcare social services child protection recreational activities and more.
- Collaboration and Partnerships: Foster collaborations and partnerships with local government agencies nonprofit organizations schools healthcare providers and other stakeholders to enhance services and support available to children. Develop and maintain strong relationships to leverage resources share knowledge and coordinate efforts for the benefit of children and their families. Serve as an advocate for childrens rights and promote awareness of issues affecting them. Engage in public relations activities such as public speaking engagements media interviews and community events to raise awareness educate the public and garner support for initiatives aimed at improving childrens lives.
- Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Work closely with the Mayors Office and relevant departments to develop and manage budgets for childrens programs and services. Ensure efficient allocation of resources and seek additional funding opportunities through grants partnerships or fundraising efforts to support and expand initiatives.
We are looking for candidates that demonstrate experience in the following knowledge skills and abilities:
- Commitment to Equity and Inclusion: The Executive Director should demonstrate a strong commitment to equity and inclusion ensuring that the needs of all children including those from diverse backgrounds are met. This includes addressing systemic barriers advocating for marginalized populations and fostering an environment that values diversity and inclusivity.
- Leadership and Management Skills: As the Executive Director of Childrens Affairs strong leadership and management abilities are essential. This includes the ability to set strategic goals allocate resources effectively motivate and inspire staff and make informed decisions to benefit childrens welfare and development. You will have experience with leading transformative change initiatives.
- Experience in Child Advocacy: A deep understanding of child advocacy and the issues affecting children is crucial for this role. Experience in working with organizations or initiatives focused on childrens rights youth services education development child welfare health or similar fields is highly valuable. This background will enable the Executive Director to effectively advocate for the needs and rights of children in the City and County of Denver.
- Policy Development and Implementation: The Executive Director should possess the ability to develop and implement effective policies and programs that address the specific needs of children. This includes understanding the legal and regulatory framework surrounding childrens affairs conducting research and analysis to inform policy decisions and collaborating with relevant stakeholders to ensure successful implementation. Proven experience making datadriven decisions to inform strategy and improve outcomes with a track record of developing and implementing datadriven initiatives that lead to measurable improvements.
- Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills both verbal and written are necessary to effectively convey ideas policies and initiatives to various audiences including government officials community leaders and the general public. The Executive Director should also be adept at building partnerships and collaborating with other agencies organizations and community groups to achieve common goals in childrens affairs.
- Knowledge and understanding of Child Development and Wellbeing: An understanding of child development principles and best practices is crucial for the Executive Director to make informed decisions and design programs that promote the overall wellbeing of children. Familiarity with educational systems healthcare services social services and other relevant areas is beneficial for creating comprehensive strategies.
