Job Description
Location: Durban South Africa
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our clients civil construction team in Durban. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field and possess advanced technical knowledge in structural engineering principles and practices. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for designing planning and overseeing construction projects ensuring that structures are safe stable and compliant with industry standards and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and analysing structural components and systems for construction projects
- Creating detailed drawings specifications and calculations
- Conducting site visits and inspections to assess structural conditions and provide recommendations for improvements
- Collaborating with architects contractors and other project stakeholders to ensure project goals are met within budget and timeline constraints
- Monitoring construction progress and quality control to ensure compliance with design specifications
- Reviewing and approving construction documents reports and plans
- Mentoring junior engineers and providing guidance on technical issues
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering Structural Engineering or related field
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in structural engineering preferably in the civil construction industry
- Professional Engineer registration is beneficial
- Advanced knowledge of structural analysis software and design tools
- Solid understanding of building codes regulations and industry standards
- Experience with waterretaining concrete structures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid drivers licence
