If you are anEngineering Studentlooking for an opportunity to grow Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you!This role is an exciting opportunity to support the HVACR Technologies business.Based in ourSidney Ohiolocation this internship will have opportunities to design fixturing for new projects develop new analytical methods for evaluating our products and participate in collaboration with other technical teams. This internship will conduct fatigue shaker and life testing to evaluate critical parts and to explore new solutions for existing designs. In addition to testing this internship will analyze data using statistical methods to deliver solutions through timely reporting to key stakeholders. This internship will provide direct support for Refrigeration and Air Conditioning engineering teams.
AS AN APPLIED MECHANICS AND RELIABILITY INTERN YOU WILL:
- Assist in creating and executing reliability and durability test plans
- Assist in the development of novel Reliability tools
- Design test fixtures in CAD software
- Setup run and tear down physicsbased engineering tests
- Analyze data sets from internal testing external customers and warranty
- Assist with root cause analysis of failures
- Write engineering reports
- Keep inventory of test samples
- Take detailed notes of testing procedures and results
- Have good communication skills (written and verbal)
REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field
- Completed Strength of Materials (or equivalent) course
- Ability to work 40 hours a week during the scheduled semester
- Legal authorization to work in the United States Sponsorship for this role will not be provided
PREFERRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
- Undergraduate Student currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Cumulative GPA of 2.75or higher
- Sophomore or higher class standing
- Strong oral and written communication skills analytical and decisionmaking skills and PC skills including Microsoft Office
- Previous Intern Experience with Copeland or another company
- Computer Programming (Python LabVIEW etc. experience
- CAD Modeling Experience
- Statistical analysis (Lognormal Weibull etc. experience
- Capable of using basic hand tools
- Reliable transportation Sidney has multiple locations and recommend own transportation for commuting
Flexible Work Schedule Core Hours (Dependent upon department)
This role has the flexibility to flex your start and stop times given you are working during the core hours of 9:00 AM 3:00 PM. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.
