Job Description

Overview:

As an Intern student in our South Carolina Vinyl Manufacturing facility located in Fountain Inn SC you will develop recommendations for improvements in many areas of production including safety quality uptime and product yield. You will be equipped with a basic understanding of the Vinyl Manufacturing operation. You understand the communication between functional areas as well as floor personnel and be able to navigate successfully within a plant environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn the process for Vinyl Manufacturing by observing the functions from the eyes of assigned operators and leads
  • Establish startup rates by line by product and corresponding rampup rates (kg/hr/min) towards target production rate in order to streamline the process while improving uptime and yield
  • Conduct packaging study with focus on developing a project to optimize packaging support labor
  • Support Vinyl safety quality uptime & yield improvement initiatives
  • Assist with writing or updating SOPs
  • Aid in investigation of quality complaints or quality incidents identifying root cause and sustainable solutions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Conduct a clean out and change overtime study identifying new tools and methods to help make the operators job easier
  • Aid in the conversion of existing batch cards to the new automated blender format
  • Conduct end of term presentation to site leadership team

Qualifications

  • Ability to work fulltime hourly schedule Monday Friday 7:00am to 4:00pm
  • Major Industrial Engineering Chemical Engineering Petroleum or Plastics Engineering & Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint etc..
