The position is responsible for executing quality custodial services with the delivery of services for the custodial cleaning program. In addition the position acts as a resource regarding operations building inspections training special projects special events supply inventory work orders and emergency calls.This role will report directly to the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
Responsibilities
Maintain regular attendance and be able to work some weekends and evening shifts when necessary.
Must be able to communicate effectively and appropriately and exhibit patience and understanding when engaging with internal and external customers.
Supervises custodial team including the responsibility for daytoday enforcement of all policies and procedures.
Prepare work schedules and assignments to include day and evening shifts.
Process payroll for the custodial staff accordingly.
Evaluate and document staff performance(s) and attendance and maintain consistency in the disciplinary process.
Review applicant materials to identify candidates for interviews; conduct candidate interviews; provide recommendations as part of hiring process;
Communicates updated job expectations and policies to employees listed below and acts as liaison to senior management for employee complaints and initiatives
Facilitate the custodial training program for new employees and provide ongoing training as needed.
Enforce safety regulations and support training for employees on OHSA requirements.
Identify and take action to remedy potential safety problems.
Review work orders assign tasks track requests and collaborate with other departments.
Ensure housekeeping quality of productivity is well maintained and assist Operations in developing departmental goals.
Supervise assist and perform duties on projects for special exhibitions; floor care and special event setups.
Ensure that employees follow established work and break schedules accordingly.
Monitor and control supplies and equipment; Ensure that repairs are made promptly.
Analyze and provide support in all emergencies.
Support snow removal from building entrances emergency exits and sidewalks when necessary.
Prepares vacation and bonus holiday schedules for approval of the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
Oversee and perform when needed placement of temporary and portable screens stanchions and signage for museum gallery closures.
Maintain the Custodial Services Budget. Makes decisions regarding the purchase of custodial supplies equipment and cleaning tools.
Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
5 years of facility management sufficient experience in custodial services in leading and maintaining facilities.
Must have good interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work in a diverse and inclusive atmosphere.
Strong leadership experience is a must.
Previous cleaning experience in a similar facility.
Knowledge of floor care experience preferred; automatic floor machines wet/dry vacuum buffers and similar equipment.
Knowledge of asbestos awareness hazard communications and personal protective equipment.
Follow detailed instructions and communicate verbally and in writing.
Physical Requirements
Regular lifting and moving 25 lbs. without assistance.
Must be able to sit and work at a computer for long periods.
Periodic walking squatting and kneeling.
Stretching and reaching overhead and below the waist.
Climbing stairs and ladders.
Using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required including but not limited to respirators protective footwear and eyewear.
