The MGH Clinical and Translational Epidemiology Unit is a new research unit within the Department of Medicine. The mission of the CTEU is to advance epidemiologic investigation for the translation of discoveries into effective clinical interventions. The CTEU will utilize develop and optimize cutting edge epidemiologic methods to discover and characterize determinants of human health develop novel preventive and therapeutic interventions and elucidate molecular biomarkers for the development of precision medicine strategies. Approaches will include the analysis of traditional epidemiologic exposures as well as novel genetic biochemical metabolomic proteomic and microbial biomarkers. The CTEU Research Program Manager will report to the Unit Chief of the CTEU in his capacity as Unit Chief and Principal Investigator.
The Program Manager will assist the Unit Chief in managing epidemiologic/clinical research and training activities. The Program Manager will actively assist in the design and analysis of research projects as directed by the Unit Chief. This will include research directed by other CTEU Principal Investigators as well as trainees including postdoctoral PhD and MD researchers.
The Program Manager will also be in charge of developing and implementing an educational curriculum. Administrative duties will include supervision of research coordinators and technicians oversight of research resources management of research project schedules and providing mentorship to students and postdoctoral fellows within the Unit. This person also will be the primary interface between the Unit staff and investigators within the Unit regarding scientific questions of study design and educational activities. The ideal candidate will work fairly independently receiving minimal supervision.Principal Duties: Research and educational responsibilities Assist in the design and analysis of research projects including general project management and development of appropriate scientifically valid methods. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals/research funding requests Provides mentorship to postdoctoral MD/PhD fellows in troubleshooting analyses Assists in preparation of manuscripts Supervises research coordinators/personnel.
