Reports to:Director of First Year Transitions
Priority Consideration: April 11th 2025

The Program Specialist 2 is responsible for managing the Summer Bridge Program supporting students throughout their transition into college and overseeing the recruitment of new participants. Key duties include coordinating summer workshops monitoring student progress supervising student mentors and promoting the program to prospective students. Additionally the Program Specialist 2 works to continuously improve the program through data analysis feedback and collaboration with faculty and staff. This position requires close communication with students faculty and campus resources to ensure program success and the ongoing engagement of participants.


Essential Functions

  • Coordinate afternoon summer program workshop sessions by scheduling presenters ordering supplies and ensuring workshop setup.
  • Act as the established point person for any program challenges that may arise.
  • Communicate with student program participants regularly via email text or phone to checkin on their progress provide mentorship and support and refer them to campus resources as needed.
  • Facilitate quarterly social events for program participants to foster a sense of belonging and provide informal support opportunities.
  • Conduct student staff onboarding including the facilitation of mentorship curriculum.
  • Inform service district high school staff high school students and families about the Launch 2 College program and assists them in applying.
  • Facilitate meetings with faculty instructional admin curriculum designers to refine program structure and content.
  • Collect and analyze student feedback through surveys and focus groups to inform future program enhancements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Intermediate proficiency in using word processing spreadsheets databases and design tools Microsoft Office and Canva preferred
  • Ability to work independently manage time efficiently and contribute effectively to a team.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience mentoring or supporting students in getting started in college.
  • Experience fostering a sense of community and belonging for college students.
  • Experience supervising or leading a group.
  • Intermediate Spanish and/or Mam language skills preferred
  • Knowledge of navigating higher education.

Special Requirements/Conditions of Employment
  • Successful completion of a criminal history background check prior to employment.
  • Ability to lift move and/or relocate items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Current drivers license for limited travel to branch campuses and evening or weekend work may be required to meet the needs of the position.

Additional Information

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.

This is a fulltime classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week with a salary range of $43716 $58380annually.All classified positions will start their salary at Step A when you have completed six months of probation you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:
