Parttime Breaking News Editor (Evening)
About this role:
Factal is hiring an experienced journalist for a threemonth contract on our Seattlebased newsroom to monitor and cover global breaking news stories in real time. Were looking for a forwardthinking editor with experience in digital newsrooms excited about the fastpaced world of breaking news calm in highstress environments and familiar with covering different regions of the world. This position would primarily consist of three eighthour shifts a week in the afternoon and evening including one weekend shift.
Remote candidates welcome but must be based on the West Coast of the United States to accommodate evening hours.

The ideal candidate:
- Excels at realtime news judgment in a highpressure environment
- Can quickly write accurate and concise news copy that follows AP style
- Is able to write transparently explaining what we know and dont know
- Has a knack for finding and making sense of news events from social media
- Has experience using tools and techniques for verifying information
- Thrives in breaking news situations and can cope with strong online content
- Is familiar with global geography and the current state of geopolitics
- Can understand more than one language (preferred but not required)
- Can communicate effectively (and share cool ideas) with product teams
- Is a selfstarter who works well with others in a startup environment
- Will be available to work a flexible schedule in terms of days and hours
Benefits:
- The pay range for this role is between $30 and $35 per hour
