Job Description

Purpose of Role

To work in the 2nd Line of Defence to facilitate and embed Man Groups Operational Risk framework promote a positive risk management culture to maintain the integrity of its control framework and encourage full use of OpenPages across the firm. This includes owning the daytoday operational risk interface with agreed business areas and providing independent review and challenge across all risk and control management activity and via the attendance of business unit Systems and Controls Committees (SYSCs).

The role holder will support the development of Man Groups Operational Risk framework the formation of operational risk scenarios for the ICARA and the aggregated risk reporting to support the effective running of Man Groups Governance Forums.

Responsibilities

  • Manage or support the daytoday operational risk interface with specific allocated business areas.
  • Contribute to the production of training materials and delivery of training on risk and control management or the use of OpenPages.
  • Facilitate escalation of risk events and review and challenge the risk event reporting and closure for allocated areas. Ensure that appropriate steps have been taken to understand what happened and to minimise the risk of reoccurrence.
  • Facilitate review and challenge business risk and control assessment (RSCAs) and any need for risk acceptance.
  • Review and challenge the results of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) reported for risk monitoring purposes.
  • Monitor and challenge controls attestation completion and results recorded in OpenPages.
  • Review and challenge issue and action creation management and closure performing post closure reviews for material issues.
  • Support the review into relevant external industry events to determine where they might occur and identify current controls.
  • Attend allocated business area SYSCs and provide challenge.
  • Perform thematic risk and controls data reviews to review data quality and completeness on OpenPages. Identify gaps and propose areas in which data alignment and/ development of common controls can assist.
  • Identify and manage OpenPages data exceptions ensuring integrity of the operational risk data in the system.
  • Identify and collaborate on operational risk matters arising in allocated business areas with other NonFinancial Risk Teams.
  • Adhoc duties and project work to support the wider Operational Risk team

Reporting Governance and Due Diligence:

  • Report on levels of compliance with the Operational Risk Policy to the SYSCs.
  • Compile the monthly risk reporting
  • Collect analyse and consolidate riskrelated data and produce comprehensive and insightful reports for various stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Perform the data analysis for the quantification of the Operational Risk Scenarios (used for assessment of economic capital requirements)
  • Respond to operational risk due diligence queries

Risk Framework and Tools

  • Assist in the maintenance and the enhancement of Man Groups operational risk system and OpenPages reporting testing changes as required.
  • Review dashboards and reporting and perform basic administrative functions to support the smooth running of OpenPages.

Technical Competencies

  • Approximately 47 years Operational Risk experience preferably from an Asset Management/Financial Services background
  • Knowledge of operational risk methodologies principles and internal/external controls
  • Ability to produce and present high quality focused material to senior stakeholders
  • Capable of managing multiple responsibilities meeting tight deadlines and overcoming barriers to success strong facilitation and negotiation skills; able to achieve success by influence
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels across the business
  • Ability to challenge business stakeholders objectively and effectively
  • Aptitude to break down complex issues into tasks and deal with them in a logical manner
  • Strong Microsoft Word / Excel skills and knowledge of base reporting tools
