Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential job functions and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing instructing and grading all coursework in the assigned classes.

  • Assigning final grades; and recording attendance.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Preparing course materials class lectures and inclass skillbuilding activities.

  • Evaluating student progress through examination and assignments.

  • Evaluating student practical skills.

  • Actively supporting student success through academic advising.

  • Participating in any required department division or adjunct faculty meetings.

  • Maintaining an active program of professional development related to individual professional and institutional needs.

  • Completing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

The qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:

  • Minimum of masters degree from a regionally accredited institution in mental health counseling counselor education guidance social work psychology or a closely related field.

  • At least three years of postmasters level proven work experience as a practicing psychotherapist.

  • Current knowledge of the human services field including major treatment modalities instructional techniques and computer skills related to courses taught.

  • Ability to facilitate inclass skillbuilding exercises based on simulated scenarios.

  • Proven ability to work with others.

  • Ability to recognize and respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds.

  • All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires an ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time and to present oral lectures/demonstrations walk bend lift reach up stoop and carry items occasionally in excess of twentyfive 25 pounds. Some lifting of computer and electronic equipment may be required. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines such as copier fax calculator telephone and other equipment as necessary. IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
