Recruitment Number 24141TYSocial Service Assistant IV (Male) SR11 Honolulu Oahu.
Note: This position requires the incumbent to be of the same gender (male) as that of the clients being served.
Performs extensive field work and outreach functions; serves as liaison between professional staff and clients and/or potential clients; performs preliminary screening for continued eligibility; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Education Requirement: Graduation from high school. Experience of the type described below or work experience requiring the ability to read comprehend and apply written directions or a high degree of verbal skill may be substituted for lack of high school education.
Specialized Experience Requirement: Three 3 years of progressively responsible experience in providing supportive services to social workers vocational rehabilitation specialists public housing managers or other professional workers in such programs as public welfare family court vocational rehabilitation and public housing; e.g. performing clerical tasks in processing various documents transporting clients and materials to and from various destinations explaining to clients or tenants the services available assisting in overseeing group activities such as bowling and swimming.
Substitutions Allowed:
1. Education in an accredited university in a baccalaureate program may be substituted for experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six 6 months of experience up to a maximum of three 3 years.
2. Satisfactory completion of a social service aid and assistant curriculum at an accredited community college technical school or junior college which resulted in a Certificate of Achievement or Associate of Science or related degree may be substituted for experience on a yearforyear basis up to a maximum of two 2 years.

In accordance with the Federal PREA Law the Hawaii State Judiciary shall not hire or promote anyone who may have contact with detainees in juvenile facilities and lockups with inmates detained in a prison or jail or with residents of community confinement facilities who:
a. Has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison jail lockup community confinement facility juvenile facility or other institution;
b. Has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force overt or implied threats of force or coercion or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse;
c. Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in b above; or
d. Has been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation of alleged sexual abuse or sexual harassment.
