Job Description

**This role is for the 25/26 School Year!**
This role works with students in 2nd to 4th grade.

About the Elementary Interventionist Role: The Interventionist is the instructional leader on campus responsible for driving the academic mission of a KIPP Colorado elementary school by developing and executing programs that enable students to make 1.52.0 years of academic growth each academic year. The Interventionist will support the schools MultiTiered System of Supports (MTSS) program for literacy/math stay current with best practices for literacy/math instruction to educate staff create and teach intervention groups and support Multi Language Learners. This is a fulltime position and will be coached by the MTSS lead and managed by the Principal. The Interventionist will work to implement the KIPP Colorado Instructional Vision for English Language Arts PreK12. The position is a 10month academic position and is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

  • Read internalize and adhere to the KIPP Colorado Policies and Procedures manual and guidelines
  • Providing an active presence strategic supervision and intentional monitoring to ensure student safety and engagement in rigorous learning (regardless of my role and its proximity to students)
  • Take ownership for the development of your craft (meet 1x/12 weeks with a manager implement feedback engage in active practice etc.
  • Commit to being prepared. Such as; internalizing and preparing for lessons; preparing for O3s/coaching preparing for meetings coaching PD etc.
  • Meet professional obligations including and not limited to meeting deadlines and honoring schedules
  • Consistently leverage existing professional tools including but not limited to Google Suite (google documents etc. and Microsoft Suite (including but not limited to your KIPP Colorado email Teams chat / meetings Teams phone and Microsoft outlook)
  • Maintain strong attendance each day and be on time to all responsibilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement
  • Reflect on professional practices to meet individual professional development goals
  • Actively participate in professional development grade level and department meetings
  • Actively engage and implement in all schoolwide and Org wide professional development
  • Serve as a positive contributing member of a grade team or functional team collaborating with colleagues to tackle common challenges and implement org and gradewide initiatives
  • Share candid solutionsoriented feedback with peers and leadership on a regular basis assuring that feedback is shared directly with the intended recipient. Ensure that feedback is focused on improving outcomes and experiences for students
  • Assist with both student and staff recruitment and engagement including events home visits calls home and other determined and related requirements
  • Your role professional development org wide meetings etc may require you to travel around Denver to other KIPP Campuses our Home Office or other KIPP or PD events
  • Other duties as assigned (such as but not limited to lunch duty arrival/dismissal duty bathroom duty school support duties etc)

Assessment/Goal Setting/Progress Monitoring

  • Coordinate and facilitate the schools intervention programming
    • Coordinate literacy assessment and data collection for all students
    • Interpret all results to determine targeted grouping and programming for students and manage the school teacher and studentfacing goal setting process for reading growth and proficiency
    • Schedule push/pullout support with Englishlanguage arts teachers for students who require literacy remediation
    • Frequently communicate with key stakeholders and the entire staff when appropriate the progress students have made in reading
    • Plan prepare and deliver rigorous Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading intervention classes specifically targeting students reading needs (decoding fluency comprehension etc. and supporting Multi Language Learners (MLLs)
    • Work closely with Learning Support teachers to provide learning materials resources and support in order to differentiate instruction in core classes
    • Teach daily literacy interventions in small group settings providing instruction based on student needs using Fundations and the Wilson Reading system
    • Planning and facilitating for small group math instruction for K4 students in core content area instruction
    • Progress monitor student data document progress and enter data into a centralized data management system
    • Analyze student data and use it to set individual goals create intervention groups and instructional plans and adjust instruction. Additional push in or pull out instructional support as needed for students
    • Collaborate with general education teachers special education teachers service providers school leaders students and families to meet the academic social and emotional needs of each learners
    • Utilize culturally responsive strategies that are in support of the school and district culture climate and needs/awareness of trauma informed practices to support the needs of all children and their social and emotional wellbeing
    • Professional practices and awareness of confidentiality of all student and staff data and information

Lead Reading Intervention with Students and Support other Staff Members with Intervention

  • Execute targeted researchbased reading instruction daily with students
  • Provide partnership to staff members/general educator who support academic intervention

Additional Duties

  • Frequently communicate with key stakeholders and the entire staff when appropriate the progress students have made
  • Execute big four operational duties on a daily basis
  • Other duties as assigned by school leader or MTSS lead
  • Team with other Interventionists and members of the Data and Academics Team to build out vertically and horizontallyaligned programming and act as a professional learning community
  • Other duties such as meeting Denver Public Schools and READ Act compliance requirements as determined by the school leader
