About the role
As part of a multidisciplined team reporting to the Team Leader Planning Investigations you will be responsible for detection action and timely resolution of planning contraventions and complaints across Wyndham City.
This is a rare training opportunity! Building on your previous enforcement background this role will provide training in all aspects specific to the role of Planning Investigations. A valuable opportunity to obtain a skill set not available via other means which will enhance opportunities for employment in this field.
Types of Investigations are wide and varied including signage control Use and development of properties Home based Business controls Subdivisions Environmental Issues Residential Amenity controls Industrial property controls.
Day to day activities of a Planning Investigation officer include Mobile patrols research of current data bases and permits subject of a complaint. Inspections of properties subject to a contravention. Issue Infringement Notices and summons.
What your day will look like
Liaising with and advising the public on the Councils planning requirements
Undertaking inspections and issue contravention notices and infringements
Presenting evidence at Magistrates and other Victorian courts Tribunals and hearings
What you will bring
Planning enforcement statutory investigation or other enforcement experience will be highly regarded
Highlevel communication negotiation and conflict management skills
Knowledge of the Victorian Planning Scheme related Acts and legislation desirable but not essential as training will be provided
Working knowledge of the Victorian Court system
If you progress past the interview stage you may be required to complete preemployment screening which may include police checks a medical qualification verification and an Australian work rights check.
