JOB SUMMARY

As an integral member of our finance team the Accounting Manager Inventory & Cost Accounting will oversee the companys inventory management and cost accounting functions. The role will focus on ensuring accurate inventory valuation cost of goods sold (COGS) tracking and cost accounting processes all while ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. This position will lead a specialized team driving improvements in inventory accuracy cost control and overall financial reporting related to inventory and costs.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and manage the inventory and cost accounting team ensuring accurate inventory valuation cost allocation and reporting in compliance with US GAAP and IFRS.

  • Supervise and oversee the costing processes including tracking and recording of COGS production costs and inventory variance analysis.

  • Ensure the accuracy of inventory reconciliations and lead the monthend and yearend close processes specific to inventory valuation and cost accruals.

  • Perform detailed analysis of inventory turnover gross margins and costing methods providing actionable insights to improve inventory management and reduce costs.

  • Drive the development and implementation of policies and procedures to streamline inventory and cost accounting processes enhancing overall efficiency and accuracy.

  • Provide oversight and guidance for the internal control environment surrounding inventory and cost accounting to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and safeguard company assets.

  • Lead the team in the preparation of inventoryrelated financial reports and supporting schedules ensuring they are accurate and compliant for management and external reporting.

  • Collaborate with the operations and supply chain teams to improve inventory tracking cost control and forecasting accuracy.

  • Ensure timely and accurate inventory reconciliations focusing on proper cost allocation and valuation methods.

  • Lead the team through audit processes related to inventory and cost accounting ensuring timely completion and compliance.

  • Provide leadership training and mentorship to the inventory and cost accounting team fostering continuous learning and development.

  • Monitor inventoryrelated accounting processes to ensure they remain in alignment with the companys financial goals and operational needs.

  • Develop and monitor inventory metrics and performance indicators to drive improvements in inventory management and cost accounting efficiency.

  • Support the implementation and enhancement of accounting software and ERP systems related to inventory and cost accounting.

  • Assist in special projects and other initiatives as directed by the VP Corporate Controller focusing on inventory and cost accounting improvements.

  • Complete other duties as assigned.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and cost accounting processes including standard costing variance analysis and COGS.

  • Proven ability to lead and manage an inventory and cost accounting team driving process improvements and ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting.

  • Deep understanding of inventory control costing methods and how to align them with company goals.

  • Ability to interpret and analyze complex cost and inventory data to provide strategic insights and drive decisionmaking.

  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing staff in the inventory and cost accounting area.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly present financial data and complex accounting issues to stakeholders.

  • Strong problemsolving abilities capable of identifying and addressing inefficiencies within inventory and costing processes.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field.

  • Minimum of 6 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years of managerial experience focused on inventory and cost accounting.

  • Deep understanding of inventory management systems and cost accounting principles including US GAAP and IFRS.

  • Experience in managing inventoryrelated financial processes including monthend close cost analysis and inventory reconciliations.

  • Proficiency in accounting ERP systems and MS Office with advanced Excel skills.

Preferred:

  • CPA certification preferred.

  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX or 365 preferred.
