Position Summary:
Coordinates the scheduling of complex multidisciplinary care across the hospital for all established patients receiving comprehensive cancer care.
Reports to: Manager
FLSA: NonExempt
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Processes and coordinates all insurance referrals and/or precertifications.
Facilitates patient appointments with specialists lab imaging rehab/PT and all other recommendation/requirements for patient care.
Serves as a resource for patients and others; responds to all requests for information.
Manages patient files records billings and department schedules.
Effectively manages high call volume; maintain focus on customer service.
Ability to identify critical issues and exercise independent judgement
Demonstrated detail orientation with the ability to analyze problem solve organize and manage multiple priorities
Ability to follow up and complete all tasks
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education
Associates Degree
*Years of relevant experience may be substituted for education
Required Skills
In partnership with the patient navigates the health care system including facilitating communication among patients family patient care team multiple clinical departments and providers.
Triages a large number of incoming phone calls and multiple scheduling work queues to assure patients receive coordinated sequential timely care.
Requires a focus on customer service during all patient and customer interactions. Also requires effective utilization of patient information billing systems coordination of insurance documentation management of patient records and department schedules and effective management of a high volume of incoming telephone calls.
Minimum Work Experience
2 Years experience in a healthcare setting
2 Years experience in an oncology setting (Preferred)
