Role: Chair of Trustees
Term of Office: Terms of maximum of two years with possible renewal for 1 further term.
Time Commitment:
- Four board meetings per year and up to four committee meetings per year.
- Monthly schedule meeting with CEO and an annual halfday strategy session.
Remuneration: This position is voluntary. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

Description: Girls United is looking for a Chair of the Board to support its strategic growth and impact the role of Trustee is to ensure that Girls United fulfils its duty to its beneficiaries and delivers on our vision mission and values. As Chair this is a unique opportunity to play an active role in changing the lives of girls and women through football.
Chair role:
- Provide strategic leadership to the Board ensuring that it fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of the organisation
- Work in partnership with the CEO and team to achieve Girls Uniteds mission on a regular and proactive basis
- Optimise the relationship between the Board and Girls Uniteds staff and volunteers
- Plan and chair the board meetings and any additional committee meetings with support of CEO
- Act as a spokesperson and figurehead for Girls United
Trustees are responsible for:
- Supporting and providing advice on Girls Uniteds purpose vision goals and activities
- Ensuring the Organisation complies with its governing document and pursues its objectives accordingly
- Contributing actively to the strategic direction of the Organisation setting overall policy defining goals and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets
- Approving operational strategies financial statements and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation
- Safeguarding the good name and values of the Organisation
- Ensuring the effective and efficient administration of the Organisation
- Ensuring the financial stability of the Organisation
- Ensure that key risks are being identified monitored and controlled effectively
- Keeping abreast of changes in Girls Uniteds operating environment
- Participating actively and critically in board discussions by scrutinising board papers leading discussions focusing on key issues providing advice and guidance on new initiatives or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.
- Providing support and challenges to Girls Uniteds CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs
- In addition with other trustees to hold the Organisation in trust for current and future beneficiaries by:
- Ensuring that the Organisations has a clear vision mission and strategic direction and is focused on achieving these
- Providing accountability to the organisations corporate behaviour; ensuring that compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
- Acting as guardians of the Organisations assets
- Ensuring that the Organisations governance is of the highest possible standard
- Contribute to the broader promotion of Girls Uniteds objects aims and reputation by applying their own skills expertise knowledge and contacts
