Core Responsibilities

  • To assist the Head of Energy & Construction UK to execute the strategic direction and business performance of the Energy & Construction portfolio in accordance with the objectives of the company.

  • The underwriting of Everest Energy & Construction insurance products.

  • Underwrite in compliance with Everest prescribed underwriting standards

  • Refer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority

  • Participate in the underwriting peer review process as required

  • Monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwritingregulationand compliance

  • Liaise with the Risk Engineering team on loss control and risk selection reviews as and when required.

  • Maintain awareness of all claims advices while supporting and providing input on claims settlement

  • Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for crossselling offered products and ensuring account retention

  • Ensureall processing and MI is managed to a high standard

  • Actively participate in the development & of the marketing plan broker & customer relationships in a manner consistent with the objectives of the business plan.

  • Represent Everest at internal and external meetings with brokersclientsand other customers / stakeholders as required

  • Business travel as required to support the above objectives and the appropriate management of T&E expenses

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors Degree or comparable Business Degree

  • Demonstrated underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 35 years of professional experience

  • Knowledge across the relevant Energy & Construction products preferred but not required

  • Ability to stay organized in a fast paced and high intensity work environment with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks

  • Working collaboratively in a team environment

  • Willing to take initiative function independently and beentrepreneurialwith the highest standards of ethics and professionalism

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Existing relationships with brokers handling business in the targeted segments

  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication

  • Effective negotiation skills with the ability to find win/win solutions

  • Commitment to customer service as a differentiator

  • Judgement / decision making ability to use logic rationaleand objectivity in decision making

  • Risk taking ability to develop a sound underwriting view to take calculated risks with favorable outcomes

  • Compliance ability to understand and ensure compliance with all internal and external management and regulatory controls with appropriate support

  • Market and product knowledge ability to maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products

  • Relationship building ability to establish and maintain sound relationships both internally and externally

  • Industry knowledge understand insurance industry and specific product portfolios to positively impact the underwriting business by improving personal technical and functional knowledge

  • Analytical Skills visualise gather information articulate analyse and solve complex problems in order to make key business decisions

  • A willingness to continually learn
