A DAY IN THE LIFE

Enthalpy Analytical is part of the larger organization Montrose Environmental Group is comprised of over 9 laboratories servicing air water and soil testing. Regulations drive the need for our services but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.

Our Orange CA facility is currently seeking a Full time Laboratory Assistant to join our team.

Pay: Starting at $17.00/hr

Schedule: TBD; will be on of the following: Tues Sat 7 3:30 PM OR Tues Sat 8am 4:30 pm OR Sun Thurs 2 10:30pm

As a key member of the laboratory team this role will be responsible for a full range of activities including:

Primary Responsibilities 75 include:

  • Perform routine repetitive motions for dishwashing such as scrubbing rinsing drying and stacking glassware
  • Responsible for managing sample and waste disposal according to established protocols
  • Organize and archive samples for efficient retrieval

Additional Responsibilities include:

  • Locate and Retrieve Samples
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment including housekeeping duties.
  • Perform daily and quarterly maintenance and calibration verifications of laboratory equipment such as thermometers balances pipettes etc.
  • Conduct inventory of laboratory supplies and chemicals
  • Restock laboratory cabinets and storage areas with supplies and chemicals

Other responsibilities (as assigned):

  • Preparing samples for digestion distillation or extraction as needed (includes but is not limited to: weighing soils making composites crushing samples incremental sampling product sampling etc.
  • Provide department support including pH adjustment and preparation of reagents consumables and standards.
  • Conduct simple aqueous and solids testing as needed including percent moisture on soil analysis Settleable solids for aqueous analysis pH on soil analysis Total suspended solids (TSS) Total dissolved solids (TDS)
  • Data entry
  • Comply with Enthalpys Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Comply with Enthalpys Health and Safety Plan
  • Other duties as assigned by the Group Leader or Lab Director

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

To perform this job successfully individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.

  • High School Diploma
  • Basic laboratory techniques (knowledge of PPE use of balance pipetting glassware handling etc)
  • Basic Excel skills required
  • Must be comfortable working with strong acids and solvents
  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Detail oriented
  • Must be able to work in a stationary position for entire shift duration
  • Must be able to lift and move up to 25 lbs independently and 50 lbs using assisted lifting equipment

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Prior Laboratory experience preferred but not required as this is an entry level position
  • Knowledge of analytical method analytical instruments general lab practices and lab safety
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Good organizational skills and strong communication skills
