Birthright IACT Coordinator

Boston University Hillel

Role Overview

Make your mark on Jewish student life by joining Boston University Hillel as the IACT Coordinator/Israel Engagement for its IACT Campus Program. IACT (Inspired Active Committed Transformed) is a national Hillel International program that builds on the success of Birthright Israel by providing support and inspiration to students before and after their trip. There has never been a more important time to bring students to Israel and educate them on the history land state and peoples of Israel. Since Oct. 7 2023 there has been a surge of antiIsrael sentiment and events at BU antisemitic activity across college campuses and the alienation of Zionists and Jews. This position is our specialist in helping people find their love for Israel.

The IACT Coordinator will work to invigorate all aspects of Jewish life at Boston University. While this position specializes in immersive experiences on Birthright each staff member is part of the larger BU Hillel mission and vision. All BU Hillel staff work daily to build vibrant Jewish life across the University with 4000 Jewish undergraduates. This position reports to the Executive Director and is part of a cohort of other engagement focused staff. This position asks for a 2year commitment to this position and BU Hillel. You will build one on one relationships with students plan and execute engaging events and programs around campus and help inspire students to make a commitment to Jewish life and Israel. This is a big exciting job for BU Hillel delivering impact to 4000 Jewish students the largest population at a private school in the world. What Youll Do

  • Establish a sense of energy and excitement about the wonderful opportunity of visiting Israel through the Birthright Israel Program.
  • Expand the number of Birthright Israel trip participants.
  • Elevate the Birthright experience through trip enhancements innovative approaches to informal education before during and after the trip and exciting group building opportunities.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Jewish educational approach to the Birthright trip program in partnership with BU Hillel senior educators.
  • Promote the ongoing engagement of Birthright participants in Jewish life at Boston University.
  • Ensure that students reap the maximal benefits of Birthright through thoughtful pre and post trip programs and activities.

On A Day to Day Basis You Will

  • Organize and oversee recruitment and marketing efforts to increase the number of Birthright participants.
  • Develop opportunities to advance oneonone recruitment and engagement of students to build relationships that will be sustained through the trip and upon return.
  • Play a lead role in elevating each Birthright experiences through innovative trip enhancements and creative opportunities to promote group building and strong relationships among participants.
  • Oversee the administrative efforts involved with signing students up for the program and ensuring that all travel arrangements are in place (e.g. ensuring that students have uptodate passports.
  • Participate in Birthright trips and work in close partnership with the Israel tour educators and other Birthright staff to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
  • Follow up with students upon return both individually as well as through group reunions and gatherings.

What Youll Bring to the Job

  • Bachelors degree 03 years professional experience or strong collegiate internship experience
  • Energy excitement passion and love of Judaism Jewish people and Israel
  • Confidence initiating and running programs and comfort asking questions.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams both inside and outside of Hillel.
  • Excitement to continue developing your own relationship to Judaism.
  • Ability to build relationships with diverse demographics of college students
  • Attention to detail in written/verbal communication and in active listening to students/colleagues
  • Desire to motivate student leaders to engage their peers deepen their Jewish identities and think innovatively about program content and marketing
  • This is an inperson role location in Boston Mass; remote work is not available for this position
