About the service:

The Medicare Mental Health Services are free and you do not need an appointment referral or Medicare card to visit a Medicare Mental Health Centre. The new services in Launceston Devonport Burnie and Outer Hobart are cofunded by the Australian and Tasmanian Governments to provide a streamlined approach to support better mental health and social wellbeing across the country.

The service is tailored to the needs of the community in Tasmania and provides a combination of peerled recovery and clinical support.

The Medicare Mental Health Centre provides a safe welcoming and supportive environment for people experiencing psychological distress allowing them to:

  • Identify alternatives to presenting to the Emergency Department
  • Access support from trained mental health professionals within their community.

Role Overview:

The Clinical Area Manager is a member of Strides management team and will have a pivotal role in the overall leadership and management of the MMHC TAS teams including:

  • Leading and developing a multidisciplinary team to provide primary care and support for all accessing Medicare Mental Health Services in Tasmania.
  • Overseeing and contributing to the development and implementation of clinical financial administrative systems and billing processes
  • Ensuring the MMHC teams operate within a framework of continuous quality improvement and risk management.
  • Facilitating and convening meetings of the Clinical Governance Committee and associated subcommittees.

Requirements:

  • Must have one of the following: Full AHPRA registration as a Psychologist Clinical Psychologist Occupational Therapist or Mental Health Nurse OR AASW registration as an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (or working towards)
  • Minimum of 2 years experience managing a mental health service
  • Demonstrated experience working within a recoverybased model
  • Demonstrated expertise in the management of a multidisciplinary service delivery team with the ability to lead the coordination of care for people with complex needs including consultation and engagement with a wide range of professionals/stakeholders.
  • Highly developed communication interpersonal and negotiation skills including the ability to work and communicate effectively with clients their families community agencies and other professionals.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a high demand work environment and to exercise judgment and initiative.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Must be eligible to apply/currently hold a WWCC
  • Must hold/be willing to apply for NDIS worker screening clearance
  • Current Drivers License
