Job Description

Job Summary:The Vocational Specialist as a key member of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team is responsible for assessing developing and implementing vocational goals for individuals with severe mental health challenges. The specialist collaborates with team members community partners and employers to create vocational opportunities that support clients in achieving employment and meaningful participation in the community.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assessment and Planning:

    • Conduct thorough vocational assessments to identify clients skills interests and employment goals.
    • Develop individualized vocational plans in collaboration with clients considering their strengths preferences and treatment goals.
  2. Job Development:

    • Establish and maintain relationships with local employers to identify job opportunities suitable for clients.
    • Negotiate job placements accommodations and support services with employers.
  3. Client Support:

    • Provide ongoing support to clients in developing jobseeking skills resume writing and interview preparation.
    • Assist clients in managing workplace challenges and navigating interpersonal dynamics on the job.
  4. Advocacy:

    • Advocate for clients vocational goals within the ACT team and with external stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with educational institutions vocational rehabilitation services and other community resources to enhance opportunities for clients.
  5. Collaboration:

    • Work closely with other ACT team members including psychiatrists nurses and case managers to integrate vocational goals into overall treatment plans.
    • Participate in team meetings to share updates on clients vocational progress and address any barriers.
  6. Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client interactions progress notes and vocational plans.
    • Ensure compliance with confidentiality and documentation standards.
  7. Education and Training:

    • Provide education and training to clients on workplace expectations professional behavior and problemsolving skills.
    • Offer psychoeducation to team members regarding the importance of vocational goals in the recovery process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in vocational rehabilitation psychology social work or a related field.
  • Relevant experience working with individuals with severe mental health challenges.
  • Knowledge of vocational rehabilitation principles supported employment and job development strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Familiarity with local labor markets and community resources.
  • Commitment to the principles of recoveryoriented and personcentered care.
