This internship offers an exciting opportunity for students to work handson with firmware development debugging and realtime embedded systems.

Responsibilities

What Youll Do:

As an Embedded Software Development Intern youll become an integral part of Haywards firmware development team contributing to realworld projects such as underwater light control algorithms microcontroller bootloaders and software utilities for firmware updates. Youll gain firsthand experience in embedded software development working under the guidance of senior engineers.

Your Responsibilities:

Coding & Development:

  • Write test and debug Cbased embedded software for microcontrollerbased products.
  • Assist in the design and development of new embedded systems and features.
  • Participate in requirements gathering and research for new product capabilities.

Troubleshooting & Debugging:

  • Analyze reported issues from Haywards bug tracking system identify root causes and implement solutions.
  • Work with debugging tools such as emulators logic analyzers and oscilloscopes to diagnose hardware/software issues.

Software Quality Assurance & Testing:

  • Write unit tests and modify existing tests as needed.
  • Gain exposure to Agile SCRUM processes and software quality assurance (SQA) procedures.

Qualifications

What Were Looking For:

Currently enrolled as a rising senior in a Bachelor of Science (B.S. program in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Passionate about software development and embedded systems.
Strong C programming skills.
Exposure to realtime operating systems (RTOS).
Familiarity with debugging tools (emulators oscilloscopes logic analyzers).
Experience with IDEs such as Eclipse MPLAB or IAR.
Understanding of source control concepts (Git preferred).
Strong problemsolving and communication skills.
Must have reliable transportation to and from the internship location.
