Headquartered in Overland Park Kansas SPX Cooling Technologies Inc. is a leading global manufacturer of cooling towers evaporative fluid coolers evaporative condensers and air cooled heat exchangers providing fullservice cooling solutions and support to customers in the power generation petrochemical industrial refrigeration and heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) markets for more than 100 years. SPX Cooling Technologies and its Marley and Recold product brands are part of SPX Corporation.
The position is responsible for final inspection before signing off and approving the product. This person will be a valued member of the plants quality team performing audits implementing fixes and ensuring only quality product leaves the plant. The position will spend roughly 25 of the time in the field supporting customers on quality related issues. This employee must be able to diagnose and fix routine quality issues in the field communicate the plan to fix and implement the solution in the field. Furthermore this individual must be able to capture field fixes and translate them back to production to eliminate these from happening again. The successful incumbent will be detail oriented able to follow instructions well and work well in a team atmosphere.
ACTIVITIES / TASKS
1. Maintains quality standards by inspecting inprocess production finished or crated product to ensure the order is assembled or packed to specification.
2. Investigates and reports on defects and shortages found on the assembly line or during the packin process
3. Documents inspection results by photographing units in production or during the packin process
4. Completes inspection reports and logs; summarizing rework and waste; inputting data into quality management system
5. Managing all required shipping documentation while unit is in production and has passed final inspection
6. Ensures all documentation is complete accurate and timely before forwarding it to the shipping department
7. Assists in writing quality inspection standard work
8. Performs warranty related field service functions including troubleshooting and maintenance
9. Provides recommendations regarding installation and repair of equipment
10. Identify analyze report and drive preventive actions on product failures
11. Troubleshoot and repair controls leaks and mechanical equipment issues
12. Maintains safe and health work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with company policies keeping area clean and organized
13. Travels approximately 25 of the time with the potential for this to increase seasonally
14. Other duties or projects as assigned

Ability to read assembly manuals job orders drawings and PackIn paperwork

Ability to read a tape measure in metric and imperial standards

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATION
High school diploma or GED required
Associates degree in a technical field preferred
810 years of relevant experience
HVAC equipment service experience required
PLC and refrigeration/cooling tower experience preferred
Extensive knowledge of basic HVAC equipment preferably including evaporative condensers and related products
Experience with construction site / building safety standards and manufacturing plants
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving abilities
Ability to effectively manage work time and customer expectations
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface with multiple levels of employees both internally and externally
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Competency in basic computer and software skills (Word Excel Photo and video software)
CERTIFICATION/OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong technical aptitude
Ability to troubleshoot process control systems and Building Management Systems (BMS)
Ability to present to and train large groups effectively
Must meet eligibility criteria to access customer sites with specific background requirements
