Horizon School Division is accepting applications for the position of Transportation Coordinator. The position will be allocated responsibilities for transportation services at 0.7 FTE. The remaining 0.3 FTE will be to provide administrative support to senior administration finance and/or payroll services.
Hours: Monday Friday 7.5 hours per day. Additional time may be required at times in particular for August and September.
Start Date: May 20 2025 or as otherwise agreed.
Job Description:
The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for planning the student transportation activities of the school division in accordance with the policies established by the board of trustees. Significant components of this position include:
- Developing and maintaining student transportation routes
- Processing applications for student transportation
- Completing information requests and grant applications for Alberta Education
- Facilitating communication between schools the divisions bussing contractor and student families
- Accepting calls regarding concerns related to transportation
- Coordinating the divisions regular courier service to schools
- Collecting and reviewing all commercial vehicle documentation requirements
- Other duties as assign.
Requirements:
- The Transportation Coordinator must possess the following skills and attributes: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- The ability to address concerns in a calm and consistent manner
- A commitment to confidentiality
- Flexibility in the required hours of work including mornings evenings and weekends as required
- Highly organized and motivated
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) at an intermediate level
- Familiarity working with a Windows computer environment and the ability to learn other computer software applications
- Valid drivers license clean driving record abstract
- Current criminal record check
- A business administration certificate or diploma would be considered an asset.
