  • Hours Schedule: Per diem Varies Three 3 shifts per calendar month Regularly covering weekend shifts is expected and Two 2 holidays per year.
  • Location Department:Kresge Health & Rehab Center Memory Care Assisted Living and Independent Living Chelsea Retirement Community Chelsea MI

Overview:

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) assists in providing rehabilitative services to the elderly with mental physical emotional or developmental impairments.

What youll do:

  • Works under the direction of occupational therapists to plan implement or administer programs that restore or enhance performance in individuals with functional impairments.
  • Monitors patients performance in therapy activities and provides encouragement.
  • Assists in instructing patients and families in home programs basic living skills or the care and use of adaptive equipment.
  • Observes and records patients progress attitudes and behavior and maintains this information in client records.
  • Reports to supervisors on patients progress attitudes and behavior.
  • Performs clerical duties.

What it takes:

  • Graduate of an accredited Therapy program
  • 1 2 years of related experience
  • Current Occupational Therapy Assistant state license
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Position requires the ability to lift and move objects weighting up to 35 pounds without assistance
