Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

As a member of the Ascend Performance Materials Application Development Technology team this role emphasizes product positioning and application development testing with a focus on electrical and electronic systems. The successful candidate will engage with global customers to assess material portfolios modify solutions and position Ascend as a trusted development partner.

Working collaboratively with global teams the role also involves translating customer needs into innovative solutions optimizing product performance and delivering commercially successful applications.

This position reports to Sr. Manager of Application Development and remote work is an option for this role.

TARGETED OUTCOMES

  • Improve Ascend brand recognition in the industry.
  • Increase application development pipeline to secure midterm sales and longrange plans.
  • Enhance the product portfolio database and ensure its reliability through testing needs.
  • Set directions for new polymer and compound properties against requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Engage with global customers to understand their application needs challenges and material requirements driving engagement and alignment with Ascends material portfolio.
  • Identify and replicate global successes with new customers while uncovering new application development opportunities.
  • Provide material selection expertise recommending suitable polymers based on specific application requirements and conducting performance assessments including mechanical thermal and chemical testing.
  • Offer technical design support leveraging CAD CAE and simulation techniques (e.g. mold flow and finite element analyses) to optimize part and tooling designs for performance and manufacturability.
  • Develop and test prototypes to validate design concepts ensuring customer success through iterative improvements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (sales marketing product development and manufacturing) and global counterparts to address technical challenges and codevelop innovative solutions in the electrical and electronics segment.
  • Drive the development of cohesive roadmaps for the electrical and electronic market fostering alignment and growth opportunities.
  • Deliver technical presentations webinars and training sessions to communicate the benefits of Ascend materials and solutions.
  • Conduct market analysis to stay updated on industry trends emerging technologies and potential new applications for Ascend materials.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors degree in Materials Science Polymer Engineering Mechanical Engineering or related field; advanced degree highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical and electronics systems applications.
  • Handson laboratory experience with material testing methods.
  • Proven ability to lead customerfocused innovation projects deliver complex technical presentations and manage gated project processes.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Strong understanding of polymer properties and processing techniques (injection molding extrusion etc..
  • Effective communicator with strong presentation skills to interact with customers and technical teams.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues and propose solutions.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations.
