Senior Backend Software Engineer - (Java) - B2B Billing Team (Open to remote across ANZ)

About the Group/Team

The Revenue Platform group is deeply rooted within the Growth org at Canva which is responsible for supercharging Canvas product growth engine. We lead the strategy and roadmap to empower anyone anywhere to experience the full value of Canva be it through subscription management flawless checkout journeys or localised payment experiences.

The Monetization Enablement subgroup within the Revenue Platform is pivotal in allowing other teams in Canva to bring new monetization strategies to market as fast as possible. Comprising of 4 teams the subgroup simplifies how products are sold how coupon campaigns are run and streamlines the checkout flow.

The B2B Billing team plays a key role in supporting one of the companys top goals: Empower Enterprise. Their focus is on building tools and systems that enable our enterprise sales teams to concentrate on selling rather than administration. As the integration point between many systems the team is involved in the entire process from sales lead to fulfilled orders. Our mission is to automate the creation and management of all B2B subscriptions while supporting new customer billing types a key initiative in enabling Canva to scale to more customers.
 

About the Role/Specialty

As an Engineer on this team you will design develop and deploy impactful software solutions through hands-on coding. Youll collaborate closely with leads designers and product managers to deliver innovative features and experiments to customers globally. Effective communication with product managers and engineers across Canva is essential ensuring diverse perspectives are incorporated when addressing complex challenges.

Youll facilitate knowledge sharing within the team and advocate clearly and confidently for engineering requirements to non-technical stakeholders.

Demonstrating initiative and ownership youll actively contribute to achieving team goals refining processes and enhancing overall solution quality. Additionally youll proactively identify opportunities for cross-team collaboration to foster innovation and continuous improvement.

Youre probably a match if:

• You possess deep expertise in backend development particularly with Java and the JVM.

• You have significant experience building robust APIs and effectively leveraging databases.

• Youre skilled at collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to gather requirements iterate solutions and develop tailored outcomes.

• Youre adept at identifying multiple solution pathways assessing trade-offs and proposing scalable software architectures that address business needs.

• You communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.

• You thrive in collaborative team environments actively participating in pair programming frequent interactions and rigorous code reviews.
