Job Description
PSM Recruitment are seeking a skilled and dedicated Plant Mechanic to join our maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills a keen understanding of plant operations and a commitment to safety and quality. The Plant Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical systems machinery and equipment within the plant are properly maintained and operating efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inspections maintenance and repairs on plant machinery equipment and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Quickly diagnose mechanical issues and carry out repairs to minimise downtime and maintain productivity.
- Assist with the installation alignment and testing of new machinery and equipment.
- Implement and follow a preventive maintenance schedule to prevent breakdowns and ensure the longevity of plant equipment.
- Ensure that all maintenance tasks are carried out in accordance with safety standards and regulations. Use appropriate safety gear and follow safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities repairs and inventory management of parts and tools.
- Work closely with other team members such as electricians and engineers to ensure smooth plant operations and support for largescale projects.
- Assist with diagnosing and repairing complex mechanical systems including electrical hydraulic pneumatic and other plant machinery
- Suggest and implement improvements for maintenance processes machine performance and safety protocols.
Qualifications:
- Education: Diploma or equivalent (Technical degree or certification in mechanical engineering industrial maintenance or a related field is preferred).
- Experience: 3 years of experience as a mechanic in an industrial or manufacturing plant environment.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems machinery and industrial equipment.
- Proficiency in using hand tools power tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Certifications: Valid drivers license; any relevant certifications such as welding forklift operation or safety certifications are a plus.
