Job Description

We are seeking energetic outgoing team players to provide expert fitness instruction program coordination and personal training for members in a safe enjoyable and positive environment. Our awesome fitness staff works with a diverse population every day to promote health and wellness and support the fitness goals of all our members.

POSITION SUMMARY:

These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. The Fitness Coordinator is responsible for the administration of the Fitness Center services including the maintenance of all systems and records pertaining to fitness assessments and other fitness programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide exceptional customer service and communication in the Fitness Center.
  2. As directed recruit hire train develop motivate schedule and direct Fitness Coaches and Instructors. Monitor and evaluate staff performance.
  3. Schedule members and participants for fitness assessments.
  4. Promote and implement membership enrollment and program registration.
  5. Prepare and maintain materials for programs and assist with the marketing and promotion of the fitness programs.
  6. Maintain accurate records for all programs and new members.
  7. Attend scheduled staff meetings and training seminars.
  8. Effectively resolve member questions and complaints.
  9. Assist in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  10. Special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use a computer and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach and must be able to move around the work environment
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision and the ability to adjust
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of related experience
  • One year of supervision preferred
  • Excellent customer service problem solving interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Completion of YMCA programspecific and trainer certifications must be accomplished within 60 days of hire
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job
