Burlington School District (BSD) is seeking a passionate and energetic Elementary Music Teacher to join the Districts dynamic team on a Limited Teacher Contract for the SY26 school year. This person will be responsible for providing all students with an enriched Learning Center environment containing a wide variety of materials and procedures that will invite intellectual growth and aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of our schools resources; for providing professional development to all staff in the integration of technology across the curriculum; and for developing curricular models and resources to support this professional development.Promotes enthusiasm for growth and development. Creates and maintains a safe and respectful learning environment. Creates a relationship of mutual trust and respect with students from all backgrounds and abilities.

INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGIES:(include but not limited to)

    • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in EST (education study team) and Special Educators to meet the needs of all students including students with disabilities.
    • Participate in scheduled inservice days and staff meetings.
    • Use discretion in discussing school affairs recognizing the value of positive schoolcommunity relations.
    • Strive to implement by instruction and action the districts philosophy of education goals and instructional objectives.
    • Comply with Board and administrative policies regulations and procedures and reinforce students doing the same.
    • Report incidents (e.g. fights suspected child abuse suspected substance abuse harassment bullying hazing zerotolerance offenses etc. for the purpose of maintaining the personal safety of students providing a positive learning environment and adhering to state law and board policies.
    • Respond to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or direct to appropriate personnel for resolution.
    • Attendance in accordance with established days/hours of work.
    • Perform other tasks and duties as appropriate and/or assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

Job Requirements:

  • Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License
  • Endorsement in Music 12 or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
  • Documented or eligible for NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher status.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Required Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated experience in teaching at theelementary school level
    • Understanding of Cultural Competency (as explained through Essay 1 on SchoolSpring).
    • Knowledge of curriculum planning using backwards design differentiated instruction and formative assessment.
    • Knowledge of best practices regarding frameworks of student behavioral support.

Preferred Attributes:

    • Training and/or experience with English Language Learners.
    • Experience in a professional/teaching learning community; experience in coteaching/collaborating with other educators.
    • Familiarity with integrated technology as a learning tool.
    • Evidence of implementing inclusive practices for students with special needs.
    • Ongoing educational post graduate coursework in education or subject area including diversity equity and inclusion.
