Position Summary
POSITION SUMMARY : The Head Acrobatics & Tumbling Coach is a fulltime 12month position and supervises a fulltime assistant coach position and student coach positions. The position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the nationally ranked competitive Acrobatics & Tumbling team. The Acrobatics & Tumbling team competes in the National College Acrobatics & Tumbling Association and adheres to NCAA compliance as an NCAA emerging sport. Must be able to support and promote the Universitys Mission. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : 1. Recruits quality academic students who are also competitive studentathletes. 2. Schedules all competitive events and competitive facilities. 3. Schedules all practices and practice facilities. 4. Coordinates advanced scheduling with budget approval for all transportation hotel and meal requirements for away contests. 5. Completes all expense reports for all expenses associated with home and away contests. 6. Purchases issues maintains and collects all team uniforms and equipment. 7. Oversees all budgetaryrelated items. 8. In conjunction with the Strength and Conditioning Coach trains strengthens and develops studentathletes. 9. Monitors and supports all studentathletes in their academic pursuits. 10. Monitors educates and advises all studentathletes concerning expectations in the classroom during competitions and practices and within campus and community living. 11. Advises administration of any significant accomplishments (athletic academic civic) obtained by any member of the team. 12. Identifies hires and supervises fulltime staff volunteer(s) manager(s) and/or student assistant(s). 13. Participates in an annual review of the season with the Athletic Administration. 14. Learns understands and complies with all rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA NCATA and Gannon University. 15. Passes the NCAA educational modules on an annual basis. 16. Develop and implement camps and clinics. 17. Works collaboratively to develop and implement initiatives that support the program alumni engagement development and promotional. 18. Performs other duties related as assigned.
Physical Demands
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Must be able to meet the physical demands associated with a busy athletic team schedule. Able to assist with spotting studentathletes overhead spotting rig and mat movement as needed. WORKING CONDITIONS : Work is performed indoors and outdoors in a busy University setting. The work schedule will vary with heavier emphasis September through April.
Required Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS : Education: A Bachelors degree is required; a Masters degree is preferred. Experience: Successful collegiatelevel coaching experience is required. Skills: Must have a working knowledge of NCATA and NCAA rules and an understanding of the philosophy behind them. Technical expertise of acrobatics and tumbling skill sets combined with the ability to effectively supervise strategize teach and coach them; the ability to motivate and effectively communicate with studentathletes campus and community members; a willingness and ability to recruit qualified studentathletes to the University a; strong administrative skill set such as prioritization organization and budgeting; ability to work independently and to work under pressure. Licenses and Certifications : A valid drivers license in good standing. Per Gannons Institutional Policy Manual there can be no suspensions on the Motor Vehicle Record for 5 years prior to being hired. Must successfully complete the USA Gymnastics safety course. AED / CPR /First Aid Certified. University Mission: Must be able to support and promote the Universitys Mission.
Preferred Qualifications
Three to five years of collegiate coaching experience.
