Machine Set Up Operator

Description

Responsible for set up edit and run programs for conventional special purpose and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines and machining centers to fabricate parts to production and quality standards in an ISO9001 environment.

Responsibilities

  • Select align and secure holding fixtures cutting tools attachments accessories and materials on machines such as mills lathes jig borers grinders and shapers
  • Study blueprints drawings manuals specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece sequence of operations and setup requirements
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed feed coolant flow and depth/angle of cut or enter commands to retrieve input or edit computerized machine control media
  • Develop programs and work cross functionally between machining centers
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or outoftolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required
  • Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications.
  • Diagnose issues and troubleshoot problems by conferring with engineers production personnel programmers or others on solutions
  • Initiate process improvements and corresponding documentation
  • Train operators on new processes
  • Comply with all OSHA standards safety regulations and company processes and procedures
  • Promote and maintain open communication and safety throughout the facility

Requirements

  • Strong math skills.
  • Solid communication skills.
  • Proactive problem solver willing to learn and accept new challenges
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand bend stoop squat and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to read and understand job instructions.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Must be able to pass a preemployment background check and drug screen.
