Pay Schedule I Grade 33 Regular Schedule: 35 hours per week

A vacancy exists in the Police Department Crime Analysis Section Administrative and Technical Services Bureau.

Under general supervision supervises and participates in statistical analysis of data identification of trends and preparation of reports to be used by departmental management for analysis of efficiency activity deployment of resources program development and other purposes.

• Supervises a unit of statistical analysts.
• Assigns and reviews projects.
• Assists in establishing statistical procedures and methods for data collection and reporting.
• Coordinates work of the unit with other divisions departments or agencies.
• Prepares correspondence and reports related to unit activities.
• Leads or participates in complex or lengthy projects.
• Coordinates data collection leads or performs complex analyses and coordinates reporting of results.
• Assists in making forecasts of crime to aid in instituting strategic and tactical suppression and prevention activities.
• Assists in making recommendations related to longrange planning of patrol facilities and staffing requirements.
• Assists in evaluating devising and implementing conversion of manual statistical procedures and methods to automated systems.
• Uses a variety of computer hardware and software to produce maps text tables graphs charts and other aids to be used in reports and presentations.
• Works with geographic databases in a computer mapping environment to produce analytic maps needed to examine the spatial occurrence of phenomenon.

• Represents the unit or department at a variety of meetings conferences and forums.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree that included one course in statistics or quantitative methods and three additional courses in mathematics research methods computer programming statistics quantitative methods and/or a related field

Two years experience in applied statistics. (Education in statistics beyond a bachelors degree may be substituted on a yearforyear basis for the required experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted on a yearforyear basis up to a maximum of four years for the required education.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience as stated on their application which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.

Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this classification is essentially sedentary and involves the frequent use of data entry devices and other office equipment.

Medical Examination and Employment Background Investigation
Applicants selected for employment with Baltimore County must successfully complete a physical examination drug screening and employment investigation including but not limited to criminal background education certification and fingerprinting checks.
