What We are Looking For:

Aird & Berlis LLP is looking for an experienced Law Clerk in Wills & Estates who will contribute to the overall excellent level of service provided to our clients. This is a hybrid opportunity and the ideal candidate should be someone who takes pride in their work is detail oriented reliable highly organized and has the ability to handle multiple priorities. This is a good position if you are a selfstarter and can work both independently and in a team setting supporting a busy practice group.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle or assist in all aspects of estate administration from beginning to the end
  • Attend as a second witness for client signatures
  • Review and prepare estate accounts
  • Prepare court documents in support of estate maters including contested passing of accounts application for advice and direction guardianship applications/variations of trust.
  • Preparing application materials for certificates of appointment of estate trustees
  • Oversee and maintain the Wills and Trust vaults and databases
  • Communicate professionally with all internal and external clients
  • Produce the highest quality of work
  • Accountable for all work assigned
  • Take Initiative

Requirements:

  • Minimum of eight years previous experience as a wills and estates law clerk
  • Successful completion of a postsecondary education in law clerk or legal assistant program
  • The ability to be flexible to the changing demands of the job
  • Capable of working under pressure and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Flexible team player who is client service oriented
  • Docket time

Skills:

  • Microsoft 365 Suite of applications
  • A willingness to learn our specialized wills and trusts database and wills drafting program
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently prioritize and multitask
  • Flexible team player who is client service oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills
