    REPORTS TO: Principal

    JOB GOAL: To create flexible prekindergarten program and class environment favorable to learning and personal growth of pupils from economically impoverished homes; to motivate pupils to develop speech abilities attitudes skills and knowledge needed to provide good foundation for further participation in total school program in accordance with each pupils ability; to build strong ties between home and school; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Provides learning experiences in language arts physical education art music health and other subject
    matter suited to needs of pupils from economically impoverished homes utilizing suggestions in state and
    District publications
    2. Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and visual instructions of pupils with wide range
    of mental physical and emotional maturities
    3. Develops in each pupil awareness of his worth as individual and his role in his family and community;
    encourages pupils to express themselves creatively in art music and dramatic play
    4. Provides individual and small group instruction designed to meet individual needs of pupils in communication
    skills health habits physical skills and development of satisfactory selfconcepts
    5. Enriches educational program through study trips to community resources such as museums parks etc. and
    through classroom visits by resource persons from school and community; shares and interprets these
    experiences with pupils and parents
    6. Plans and coordinates work of aides assistants parents and volunteers in classroom and on field trips in
    order to obtain maximum benefit from their efforts
    7. Develops with aid of parents and other community groups activities and services for parents which promote
    parent participation and involvement in education activities being provided for their children
    8. Communicates regularly with parents by means of parent meetings home visits and individual parent
    conferences; interprets school programs to parents in order to strengthen parental understanding of individual
    pupils needs and schools role in individual pupils life
    9. Provides appropriate climate to establish and reinforce acceptable pupil behavior attitudes and social skills
    10. Cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health attitude and
    learning problems
    11.Creates effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays interest centers and
    exhibits of pupils work
    12.Maintains professional competence through inservice educational activities provided by District and/or self
    selected professional growth activities
    13.Participates cooperatively with appropriate administrator to develop method by which he will be evaluated in
    conformance with District guidelines
    14.Selects and requisitions books instructional aids instructional supplies and food
    15.Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as required
    16.Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities
    17.Maintains state required documentation and records

    SALARY: Salary and work year to be according to current schedule; prekindergarten teacher salary schedule
    $38805 $63419 annually 182 day)All teacher salaries are contingent onverified years of experience and education


    EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the Districts Improvement of Professional Services handbook BoardPolicies and Proceduresand consistent with collective bargaining agreements when applicable

    Copies of required certificates transcripts or diplomas may be submitted with application. District may require that originals be presented for verification prior to employment. Please check with Human Resources regarding acceptable documents. For positions requiring college course work official transcripts will be required upon employment.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operators license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six 6 weeks of hire and annually thereafter as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act.
