ImpactDirector Full Time
Location:Philadelphia (In office 5 days / week)
A Philadelphiabased nonprofitorganization (the Foundation) is conducting a confidential search for itsfirst Impact Director. The Foundation is focused on supporting efforts toimprove economic security and academic success for vulnerable populations andstudents in Philadelphia. The Foundation established in late 2022 has two keynonprofit partners at this point. However under the leadership of the new ImpactDirector the organization seeks to expand its portfolio of grantees.
The Foundation is currently managed bythe founders family office in collaboration with the Board. The ImpactDirector will be the first role hired to support the Foundation and dedicatedstaffing will likely remain lean over time. This is a unique opportunity toelevate professionalize and expand a new foundation and make a meaningfulimpact in Philadelphia.
Reporting to the Board of Directors the ImpactDirector will be responsible for executing on the Foundations missioninforming its strategy and enabling fundraising activities including brandpartnerships. Given the unique nature of this role the Impact Director shouldbe someone with an entrepreneurial mindset and a demonstrated ability to rollup their sleeves and drive from ideation to operation. Personal integritydiscretion and a deep conviction to the mission of the Foundation is critical.
KeyObjectives of the Role:
- Lead the daytoday operations of the Foundation
- Steward and facilitate highimpact nonprofit partnerships
- Implement operational and technology systems required to poise the Foundation for growth
- Collaborate with the Board to evolve the strategy and programs of the Foundation
- Drive the of marketing and fundraising efforts in cooperation with the Board and with support from vendors
- Leverage the Founders personal brand to drive additional fundraising and philanthropic partnership opportunities such as commercial coventures
- Represent the Foundation at community events and with local media serving as a proxy for the Founder when unavailable
- Facilitate fiscal management and oversight in alignment with regulatory requirements in partnership with outside counsel and the family office
OngoingResponsibilities:
- Grantmaking:
- Steward existing partnerships on an ongoing basis; regularly communicate and engage with current nonprofit partners
- Source new partners through either an invitation or open application process
- Facilitate grant reporting and share impact updates with the Board and external audiences as appropriate
- Explore and implement innovative new impact models upon request from the board (e.g. direct cash assistance impact investments etc.
- Administration and Operations:
- Implement tools and systems as needed to support areas such as customer relationship management grant proposal review and report collection accounting for expenses and vendor payments
- Prepare for Board meetings
- Draft and propose the adoption of policies as needed
- Work with the CFO legal counsel and other key stakeholders on processes such as the preparation of the Form 990
- Lead the annual budgeting process and ensure all spending is in alignment with the budget
- Hire external vendors on an as needed basis
- Fundraising and External Communications:
- Develop annual fundraising plans which incorporate multiple funding streams and innovative opportunities
- Support the of fundraising events such as golf tournaments from a project management standpoint
- Engage with external consultants to build out the marketing and communications suite for the Foundation including collateral such as an annual impact report
- Represent the Foundation at local events and serve as the Founders proxy as needed at various speaking engagements
- Exercise discretion and confidentiality at all times
Requirements
Requiredqualifications
- Bachelors degree (or equivalent)
- 7 years of related work experience
- Demonstrated working knowledge of state and federal regulations governing public charities
- Demonstrated working experience managing a budget
- Demonstrated supervisory experience
Preferredskills and qualifications
- Masters degree in a related field
- Prior experience as a grant maker
- Demonstrated experience working with a nonprofit Board of Directors
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a bent toward innovation and experimentation
- Personal connection to Philadelphia community and credibility within the community the Foundation seeks to serve
- Fundraising and donor stewardship experience
- Knowledge of nonprofit marketing and communications strategies and channels
- Exceptional verbal written and visual communication skills
