Job Description
Overview
Working as a Network Engineer at MHS you will beresponsible for all network hardware and related technologies including: Routers Switches Wireless VPN and WAN circuits. The Network Engineer II is responsible for the constant monitoring of performance availability and maintainability of all Cisco network infrastructure hardware and related software applications and for developing and implementing various Enterprise level solutions. Identify opportunities to improve user experience and functionality through evaluation collaboration and implementation of new applications and functionality and migrating to new solutions as appropriate. Also as part of a team investigates new technologies to ensure technology is appropriate and uptodate to support ongoing organizational requirements. Support other security development and production support efforts across the organization as needed. ***This role will be worked hybrid with onsite requirementsin Springfield Illinois***
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelors Degree in computer related field required. Three to four years experience in Enterprise Level Networking may be considered in lieu of degree.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
- Cisco Certified Networking Professional certification preferred.
Experience:
- Two to four years experience in Enterprise Level Networking required.
Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of Cisco IOS STP VLANs EIGRP CiscoX and 6500 LAN switching Cisco WiSM and WCS/Prime Cisco ASA and VPN technologies and Cisco Nexus line including VDC and OTV.
- Understanding of all facets of enterprise networking hardware and software technologies.
- Enterprise level hardware integration experience required; including assessment installation project management and documentation expertise necessary.
- Ability to assess develop and implement creative solutions to ensure appropriate support of existing systems.
- Must possess strong oral and written communication skills planning skills problemsolving skills and change management skills.
- Must possess strong skills in personal diplomacy and customer service and consistently demonstrate a high level of motivation commitment to teamwork professionalism and trustworthiness.
- Must possess sound decisionmaking ability operate well under pressure and be tenacious in resolving difficult problems.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with staff at all levels of the organization including medical staff and senior management.
Responsibilities
- Monitor the performance availability and maintainability of all Cisco network infrastructure hardware and related software applications.
- Develop and implement various Enterprise level solutions.
- Ensures that integrity availability and accessibility of the network infrastructure are maximized.
- Ensures that the enterprise network infrastructure is costeffective and that the network services provided are strategically aligned to longterm MHS goals.

- Responsible for integration of all networking equipment and applications to ensure smooth and seamless flow of information and data across the entire enterprise network.
- Support ongoing analysis of performance availability and maintainability of the enterprise network to ensure superior results. Troubleshoot identify and implement corrective measures as appropriate to ensure issues are resolved before system operation is threatened or critical problems arise.
- Participate in Technical reviews of new technologies and upgrades to assist in planning and timing of implementation to ensure improvements are achieved and planned benefits are realized as anticipated with minimal impact and interruption to user community.
- Follow previously developed policies procedures and models based on industry best practice as well as accurate documentation of current network architecture. Update as required on a timely basis.
- Work proactively with system users to identify opportunities for increased functionality to improve staff efficiency and effectiveness. Implement improvements as necessary.
- Operate within Memorials Code of Conduct and Ethics at all times and constantly display Memorials Behavioral Standards.
