Job Description

The Valley Temple of Cincinnati Temple Administrator/Office Manager

About The Valley Temple

The Valley Temple is a warm and inclusive Reform Jewish congregation in Cincinnati Ohio dedicated to deepening Jewish experience learning and connection. Guided by our mission we aim to strengthen faith in God love of Torah and identification with the Jewish people through education meaningful involvement and participation in Jewish life. The Valley Temple is designed to serve those preferring the greater intimacy informality and sense of personal satisfaction that can be more readily achieved in a smaller congregation.

Position Summary:

The Temple Administrator is responsible for overseeing the daytoday operations of the temple ensuring efficient administrative management financial oversight facility maintenance and membership engagement. The Temple Administrator is supervised by the Senior Rabbi and the Board of Trustees President. This role supports the spiritual and cultural mission of the temple while managing staff volunteers and temple events.

Key Responsibilities:

Administrative & Operational Management

  • Coordinate closely with the rabbis director of education office staff and building maintenance staff.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the temple including office administration recordkeeping and correspondence.
  • Coordinate temple activities including religious services festivals community programs and special events.
  • Manage the maintenance staff administrative staff and volunteers including their scheduling.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient temple management.

Membership Engagement & Development

  • Maintain an updated database of members including contact information donation records and participation history.
  • Respond to member inquiries address concerns and foster a sense of belonging within the temple community including effective communications and engagement with current and prospective members.
  • Develop and distribute temple newsletters event announcements emails and website updates.
  • Foster a welcoming inclusive temple environment.

Financial Management

  • Manage the temples budget monitor expenses oversee financial reporting and coordination with the bookkeeper.
  • Ensure timely collection and documentation of donations membership contributions and fundraising efforts.
  • Work with the temple leadership and board to develop financial plans and ensure compliance with financial policies.

Facility & Vendor Management

  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the temple premises ensuring a welcoming environment.
  • Coordinate repairs renovations and security measures as needed.
  • Manage contracts with vendors service providers and those having events or renting the building.

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure compliance with legal financial grant funding and religious guidelines governing temple operations.
  • Assist in organizing and documenting board meetings and governance activities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration Nonprofit Management or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in administration operations or nonprofit management preferably in a religious or community organization.
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in membership management and community engagement.
