Your new role

A fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Broadcast Journalist to join our passionate hardworking team based in Glasgow on a fixed term basis.

Reporting to our News Editor Regions youll be delivering local news bulletins for Heart Capital and Smooth Radio stations across Central Scotland and the North East of England as well as providing onair and online content for Globals national brands like LBC LBC News and Classic FM.

Youll also be gathering and delivering forward planning content for our brands in Scotland and the North East in a varied and engaging role.

Youll be creative have a fantastic voice great writing skills with experience of producing news bulletins in a busy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • As a bulletin reader youll have a phenomenal voice write creatively and be able to deliver outstanding quality relevant timely and accurate local news and current affairs content.

  • Youll be part of ensuring stories from our regions are heard on our national news talk brand LBC and on our rolling news station LBC News.

  • Youll understand the importance of the full range of social and multimedia tools available in delivering a successful multiplatform news experience for our audiences.

  • Youll have sound legal judgement and be proficient in Ofcoms broadcast regulations and guidelines.

  • Youll understand the importance of developing relationships with key contacts across our regions.

  • Youll have the flexibility to tackle bulletin reading news producing and reporting shifts as required.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months youll have:

  • Created and presented news bulletins across our Heart Capital and Smooth Radio stations in Scotland and the North East.

  • Produced creative and engaging content for LBC and LBC News.

  • Sourced and produced original exclusive content.

  • Responded professionally to a big breaking story.

  • Developed a full understanding of the different Global brands

What Youll Need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions capable of the following:

  • You will be confident working on your own and under the guidance of your Senior colleagues to provide ontarget agendasetting news content.

  • You will have a commanding onair presence and be confident in your ability to if required report live into LBC and LBC News.

  • You will have experience of producing and presenting hourly news bulletins.

  • You will enjoy working flexible hours and always strive to complete a task to a high standard.

  • A knowledge and understanding of the key issues affecting the lives of people in our regions.

  • Youll have an excellent knowledge of media law and the OFCOM Broadcast Code.

  • A full clean driving licence is essential.
